I'm sure this will work wonders in raising test scores and helping the kids to behave.

They can pass what they want but a federal judge will rule it unconstitutional shortly thereafter if it infringes on the 1st Amendment.

you're not telling me much, what does pray in schools in Mississippi entail does it force all to pray, or does it allow students the freedom to pray in groups or something along those lines. a link would be very nice.

I passed this law in the early 80's in Louisiana. Everyone was for it except the unions and teachers. I left in 89' and it might have gotten changed after I left, I heard it did by some Democrats.

Not allowing prayer also infringes on the 1st amendment.

Which is why the OP needs to clarify and I included the "if it violates" qualifier.

No, the 1st amendment says the government shall not impede the right to freedom of religion. So the 1st amendment shouldn't be what keeps prayer out of school. It should be what ALLOWS people to pray in school. ETA: That's assuming they are not forcing the kids to pray. If they're not, then the teacher and anyone else can pray all they want. According to the 1st amendment.

How is this different from Colorado and Washington legalizing marijuana. Does that law also go against federal law?

Are kids not allowed to pray by themselves right now if they want to?

Kids, teachers, lunch ladies....EVERYONE can pray at any damn school they want to...nobody can keep anyone from praying to themselves...nobody can keep God out of a school...so frustrating to hear this argument

If a kids parents don't want their kid to participate in prayer let them stand in the hall
