Jennings will be one of the top restricted free agents on the market this summer, and his hiring of Schwartz could be ominous for the Bucks. After failing to receive a multi-year extension by the Oct. 31, 2012, deadline the 2009 first-round pick said, "I'm doing my homework on big-market teams."

Schwartz, who also represents Nets point guard Deron Williams, Clippers star Blake Griffin, Celtics star Paul Pierce and other top NBA players at Excel Sports Management, is a noted proponent of the added endorsement income and opportunities that the NBA's largest cities can provide.

Curious that Jennings did this now where he is closer to the trade deadline than the offseason when he becomes an RFA. I think he just told the Bucks to trade him.

He's a prick even when you agree with him.

I'd say that pretty much guarantees he won't be a Buck or a Pelican next season. I don't look at him like a championship piece unless he takes less money somewhere. An inefficient, volume-shooting PG making near max money has all the makings of a mediocre team for years to come.

I wouldn't go that far. He's a restricted free agent and the Bucks GM already said they plan on matching any offers for him. Unless some big market offers him a max deal which I don't see happening.

I could see Dallas going after him. But even if that happens I think the Bucks would still match. The fact that Jennings is saber rattling suggests he thinks they'll match and his heart is anywhere but Milwaukee.

Yeah, I forgot that he was restricted. I'd expect someone to offer him big and either get him or put the Bucks on the hook.

Yeah if they lose out on Howard and CP3 which is probable then I can see it, but still I don't see a max deal being offered.

He should get somehwere around what Lawson or Jrue got which is about right.

How much more could Lawson have gotten? 3 yrs/$41M is pretty close to if not max.

ETA - I misread. 4 yrs/$40M would not be too bad, but I fully expect someone to do to them what Pheonix did to us and drive their price up.

What's the rest of their payroll like? Could a poison pill make them part with Jennings?

They are wide open for 2014 free agency. They are only tied into about $19M for the 2014/2015 season. Even with all options picked up, they're only on the hook for $34.4M. They have a ton of space to play with, but there are only so many players out there to bring in, so it may be fool's gold for them.

With that said, they could end up getting stupid with all of that money and drive up the market on us.

Poison Pills can only be offered to 2nd round picks up for a new deal. It's an unintended consequence of making it easier for teams to keep 2nd round picks that blow up.
