Biden was speaking on Capitol Hill after meeting with Democratic lawmakers to build support for gun control legislation currently making its way through Congress. While he said no law could ever eliminate gun deaths, the vice president stressed that attempts must be made to prevent gun violence, particularly as Americans are demanding an answer from the government on how to end tragedies like the December massacre in Connecticut.
"Nothing we are going to do is fundamentally going to alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down," Biden said, echoing remarks President Barack Obama made in January when he said "there is no law or set of laws that can prevent every senseless act of violence completely."

Then what's the damn point? Oh yeah, more control of the people.
Also - I've been noticing that the media is kicking up more of this argument that the second amendment is outdated, that the framers of the constitution and bill of rights had no idea what the second amendment would evolve into. This, my friends, is what is going to lead up to their next political battle - constraints on the first amendment.

Just a few random thoughts that pops into my mind.
Maybe the problem with mass shootings is the mentally ill people doing the shootings?
Are the mentally ill crying out for help?
Maybe the problem with gun crime is the out growth of the failed war on drugs?
Wouldn't it be a little bit more effective to address the failures of the mental health system and the war on drugs?
In essence isn't this current effort on gun control just polishing a turd?

I put this in the same category as the U.N.'s global warming findings that the sun contributes to the planets heating.

Agreed, but also in that category would be making abortion illegal to stop abortion.

The gov't answer? Ban something, even if it doesn't address the problem at all, preferably something the conservatives will oppose so they can be painted as child-killer supporters. Oh, and don't mention the purpose of the 2nd amendment. It's for hunting and stuff.
