The dangerous kind, not the PC transfer bar liberal pussy SA revolvers they sell nowadays. I gotta have the right "click, click" when I cock the hammer. What should I buy?

They made them old school? I figured all the replica revolvers were transfer bar.

Yeah, I was surprised I was nominated for something. Even more surprised I'm a strong contender to win.

I don't know. I figured it's been around longer than the Uberti replicas.

Buy something made before 1900... although I don't see how something that prevents a gun from blowing a hole in you if you drop it is "PC" or "liberal pussy." I'd be willing to bet the guys who carried SA revolvers back in the day would have liked to have their cylinder fully loaded.

Or are you just looking for something with a hammer block safety instead of a transfer bar?

Either a really cheap new one or an old blackhawk/vaquero/SAA

All the Vaqueros have a transfer bar. They are not true replicas. All New Model Ruger single actions have a transfer bar. The old model / 3-screw Ruger single actions are not replicas either, however they do not have a transfer bar. The Italian replicas of the Colt SAA mostly do not have transfer bars, however they do have different forms of hammer blocks to pass drop tests. The recently departed USFA single action had no transfer bar and was high quality. The discontinued Colt Cowboy had a transfer bar. I do not recommend it. And finally, the Colt Single Action Army is fundamentally the same gun as it was when introduced in 1873 and does not have a transfer bar. For all traditional SA revolvers you MUST carry the gun with an empty chamber under the hammer (load 5 rounds only). NO EXCEPTIONS.

I bet they would have liked to carry a Glock 17. I don't intend to carry it, just plink.

No. Old school, dangerous as Hell.

The transfer bar was invented mainly to compensate for people's stupidity, however carrying 6 rounds is a decent side benefit. ETA - I assume your 1900 comment was tongue in cheek.

I think a 50s/60s Blackhawks came "old school" style, too, but I bet they're tough to find - really, really collectible.

Well if that's the case, I'd buy something original. You may have to spend some extra cash... but it'd be sweet.

Again, all Vaqueros have a transfer bar. They are not the same gun as the old model / 3-screw Ruger.

I see on the wiki page that it is based on the New Model Blackhawk which is completely consistent with your posts. However, what was shocking to me was that the Vaquero was introduced in 1993! I thought that gun had been around forever. Forever does not equal 20 years.
