Any of you young, or old, bucks have suggestions when planning for and taking the GRE?

I am trying to finish out my education completely within the next year holding dual Bachelor's and one Master's. I have been trying to get into this top level firm and every executive there holds an MS or MBA. I've tried to muscle my way in with connections and that has not panned out. Therefore, I'm going to join the education bubble group and go head and get another piece of paper because it's a club at this firm regardless of how useful it will be.

I have even done the certificate route from USC and UCLA yet it still hasn't helped in this firm I want to work in.

Heck, I had a buddy who said get your one year MBA, accredited, from a local school out west that doesn't even require the GRE or GMAT. I'm such a numbers guy and looking at the cost benefit, thousands of articles from Forbes, he might be onto something.

Hell, trade schools will be the wave of the future not traditional colleges. Who doesn't have a BS in business today? That is your new high school diploma. I even just hired a guy for my management team, at my own company, who holds a Master's from Michigan State which basically tells me he wasted a shite load of money applying for this job.

Remember the end goal is just the piece of paper to stick on the wall as I don't need it for the "network" or to get a promotion. I want to do exactly what I am doing now but with a certain firm as a consultant because I have already started my own company and it is currently operating.

I wanted to hear from you younger guys as the test and criteria have certainly changed among costs. My test date is March 2nd.

Thoughts?

I don't think your theory of having that piece of paper has to be the end all be all for getting that dream job. I don't have that piece of paper on the wall and I'm a consultant and make MS and MBA money.

ETA: The guy with the BS degree from Michigan State may be using the position at your company as a stepping stone to getting that dream job at the big firm down the road.

This can be a bad reflection of your company.
