I already own a Springfield XDM 9MM sub-compact, but the little lady has decided during the great fire arm and ammo shortage of 2013, That she wants to start carrying AND she wants to have a pistol like mine.
She has learned to shoot on my XDM and loves the safety set up on it, we would like to stay with the XD/M series.but, I can't find an XD or XDM in 9mm at all but I can find them somewhat affordably in 40S&W, but I dunno if I should just take what I can get now and get the 40, or wait until I can find an affordable XD/M in 9mm. She plans on carrying it in her purse or in the car.
So I put it to the gentleman of the OB, WWYD? :

I got the .40... i f'king love it. you get the .40, give her the 9mm.

*edit*

oh, and as even some men might not be the type to actually shoot to kill... be damn sure she would kill!

Do you have a FFL that you can refer to pretty quickly? I can look online for you, or let you know when something pops up.

Or you can wait until the XDS comes out in 9mm this year, but those will be even more in demand

Buy the 40 for you and give her your current 9.

let her carry it in her purse or on her person for a while and she if she really wants something that heavy.

I have an XD 9mm SC and I don't carry it very often due to size and weight.

I would have to check on the FFL, and she is a pretty darn good shot. I would like to think it's the coaching, but I have been trying to teach her to shoot the way we instruct our Marines to shoot.
I found a compact XD 40 for about 450, but its smaller than my XDM, both in capacity and in barrel length. I feel like it might be a better fit for her

As the owner of an XdM .40 I can say that 40 ammo is a hell of alot easier to come by right now than 9 is. So I'd get a new 40 and give her the 9.

Or wait till the XdS 9 comes out, should be able to pick one up in November 2015 at this rate.

I have a feeling that compact XD40 is not going to be a good fit. You may be able to handle it fine, but 40 is very snappy... especially in small guns.

If you don't want to wait for a 9mm for her, I would give her your 9mm and buy yourself a 40.
