I can't just pick one

played in HS finals in the Box, obviously a huge memory

Before Skip, man you could go to the games for free basically. I saw LSU play Bama with maybe 30 other people one time

But I guess if I had to pick one it's Georgia Tech. I was living in Memphis and woke up that morning and said screw it, Im driving down to the game. Got there early like 9am, got two tickets in the bleachers and baked in the sun the entire afternoon. I don't remember details of THE inning , I just remember the PA playing the song "Shout" and the entire right field foul line bleachers replaced the word shout with the GT RF last name Fischer.....You know you want to make me FISH...kid laughed the entire song, he had a good time with the fans out there that day

Forgetting the yr, but the regional at the old Box when UCLA was eliminated, they missed the flite back to LA because the coaching staff couldn't get them on the bus. The whole team was partying their butts off at the tailgating across the street. Can still hear the coach begging his players to Please Get On the BUS!

Sitting in the stands with my girl for mid-week games doing our homework.

That would be before the 1989 CWS run.

Once I decided to get in my car and drive and I ended up going down South Stadium Drive across Nicholson and noticed a few cars around Alex Box and the gates were open. So I parked in a spot next to the gate, got out and noticed I could hear the sound of a ball hitting a bat and realized there was a game or practice going on. It was real quiet so I figured this would be a good place to spread out and study. It was so I did. Right up there in the Grandstand on the first base side. No one was within 75 feet of me. All during an LSU SEC baseball game. There were maybe 50 people there - maybe. Not so many years later after Skip got the fans all worked up about LSU baseball I could hardly believe this cool story bro' myself.

Wasn't this the year we swept 55-5 A&M at College Station to make it to Omaha?

I sat down the third base line on the front row so we were right next to the visiting teams bullpen. Man, there were some guys that gave them hell. Few stories...

There was this guy who sat down there with teeth that looked like a beaver. They were pretty bad looking. Well he was giving this one catcher all kinds of crap during a game. He just kept hounding on this kid and so finally the kid looks up in the stands and looks him right in the face and goes "Nice teeth". I don't think that guy said another word for the rest of the season.

There was this bald guy a few rows behind us. I think he was affiliated with CHS in some way or another because he always sported gear from there. He was hilarious. He would always says stuff to the pitchers and they would usually laugh and which point he would start calling them "Rabbit". Well there was another catcher and he was giving him some crap. All light hearted in fun of course, nothing personal was ever said. Well the kid had a huge glove on under his catchers mitt. Looked like a bull riding glvove or something so the guy behind us said "Is that your glove for when you ride bulls?" Catcher looks up at him and responds with "No, its for when I ride your mother".

Both of those are true stories.

We also sat near a guy named Augie, he would always run down to the bench and give the relief pitchers a ticket and say "Here, you want to get in the game". Classic.

I'm not sure we swept, but I think we had to come out of the losers bracket to beat A&M (who was 55-5) in a double header, the second game going to extra innings. I remember listening to those games on the radio. Not much TV for regionals back then.

not one specific thing (at least one not already mentioned)

but the old 6 team regionals were just the best time. we were in HS and college then. wait in line for hours for the tickets, watch gaames from 10am to midnight for multiple days. we would get burned to a crisp, bring your own backpack full of drinks in the bleachers and watch basebal for 4-5 straight days. youd watch the non lsu games with only afew dozen others in the stands and talk to the outfielders. just all aroud great times

at leastt the finally got smart and assigned seats after a few years, so you didnt have to leave one game in the 6th to get in line for the next one

I did this exact same thing. I was in grade school during the time and my dad would always take off of work and come check me out of school to go.

I miss the old days of 6 team regionals. I used to love going to the Box and watch baseball all day.

Agreed, there was just a different, more exciting feel to the weekend that's hard to describe.

Same here. Nothing like 4 straight days of nothing but baseball. The regionals they have now are a lot of times too watered down.

The player from USC crushing the ball one regional over and over. I think our fans were throwing ice at him and he was show boating as rounding the bases.

1994 Regional. 12-10 Tigers. His name was Jacque Jones. Freshman outfielder he had hit 3 HRs all year, but hit 3 in the game vs. the Tigers. He was the last batter to the plate for USC and there was at least one man on base, but hit a infield grounder to end the game. He was a all-american outfielder in 1994, drafted in the 2nd round by the Twins in 96'. Played for several different teams. Retired in 2010, and now is hitting coach for minor league team Fort Wayne.

I remember walking out of the old Box the last game of the last year we played in it thinking, "this may be the last time I see a game here". Then, we played great in the SEC tournament and hosted a regional and I got to have one more weekend in one of my favorite places of my childhood.
