Something happened with the Travel Channel where they were using his likeness in commercials and stuff without his permission.
He cut ties with them.

He's one of the hosts of The Taste on ABC. The first episode was pretty meh, but the 2nd episode should be tonight. I'm going to give it one more chance.

I don't know the reason. But some possibilities are that he may have more control over the new show, or he wanted to work with a different production company, or a combo thereof where he is involved with the production company on the new show so he gets more control and more money off the reruns, DVDs, etc.

The Layover is less adventurous. He basically tells you exactly what to eat and drink in a 2 day span.

Not what he is referring to. He is referring to "Parts Unknown" on CNN. As soon as this season of the Layover is done he is done with Travel Channel, permanently.
The answer is that CNN is going to pay him A LOT. Something Travel Channel couldn't even come close to, apparently.
