My point is that there is a such thing as lucky knockouts, but not a such thing as a lucky submission.
Knockouts happen when you land a punch. Sometimes the punch hits the exact right spot and the lights go out. Sometimes guys can just eat punches and not get knocked out.
Knockouts are like homeruns in that you are trying to do your best job of hitting the ball. Sometimes you connect exactly right and you hit it out, but most of the time you don't hit homeruns even if a homerun is your goal.
But submissions are like touchdown passes. You see the receiver, and he's open if you put the ball exactly in the right place. It takes an expert quarterback to put it there, but is simply a matter of execution that determines if it will be a touchdown or not.
Knockouts are random, like homeruns. If you are a good hitter, then you will hit homeruns more than others... but they are still random.
Touchdown passes, like submissions, are not random, and are the result of execution.

While I agree with your premise, that is just a terrible analogy

I wanted to post this to respond to your novel

Watched a couple of Aldo's training videos today, so pumped for this fight. Everything on the line for Edgar, can't wait to see how he deals with those leg kicks.

It was weird to not see someone tower over Edgar. I think he can win but he's got to check the leg kicks. If he eats a ton of kicks early, that will kill the cardio advantage he'll have in the later rounds.

Yep, and the way he couldn't help but catch Bendo's kicks last fight was kind of telling. I still think Frankie wins by decision, but those first couple rounds will be real interesting.

I know it's only the prelims but the Mandalay Bay is empty. If I had tix to a UFC event. I would be there when the doors opened.

Vallie-Flagg won that fight.

No doubt. It's always like that in Vegas.

One judge who thought Edwards had won....
Looks like we might have some shitty decisions tonight

I guess there is so much other shite to do there before the main card. And they have so many events there every year. It not like the other places that only have 1 fight every other year.

I read on the UG that volkmann didn't make weight and was 157lbs. The official weight just then was 156lbs

This is a slaughter so far

Volkmann will cover him for the night like a blanket if he gets the chance. He did stay very active though.
