I am not sure why everyone is freakin' out! I think it is pretty cool and better yet a good complement to our program. Clemson is a top 25 program and they treated that game like a national championship and celebrated like they won one. That shows that we are elite and at the top. Everyone wants to knock the top teams down. I think a lot of SEC teams struggled in bowl games because all of them have a NC or bust mind set right now. Other conference teams see it as, “hey we are playing a SEC team and it will be a good measuring stick to see where we are as a program.”

Fact of the matter is they wanted that game a lot more than we did and earned a quality win. Why dog them for celebrating it?

It was definitely a big game for the team. Fans were really down on the game after another loss to SCar, which Clemson fans are still not used to yet. Both teams put a lot into that game and we were happy to beat an elite program, especially the way we did it.

Clemson fans do not buy into the conference pride thing like y'all do. We saw it as playing LSU, not as "playing an SEC team."

Whatever makes you feel better. I guess the LSU defense was dropping like flies from exhaustion because they didn't care?

This.

LSU was not fired up for that game. Go watch the post game too. Yall celebrated like it was the NC. If LSU would have won they would not have celebrated that much.

Nor would they have put a tomb stone!

I think any dogging is really frustration that we the great LSU could actually lose in football to a lowlife second rate team like Clumson. Those doggers don't have a real vision of reality as you stated in beggining of post they wanted it more then we did and also look at the previous 2 games with them were very close;7-0 (with undefeated season on the line-1958)and 10-7 in 96 when we were trying to bring back the magic. The Tigers (real) will be back in just 7 months and will be chomping at the bit to make up for that loss and be in the NC hunt I garuantee!

I have watched the game. I saw player after player for LSU hit the deck with cramps. I saw LSU's defense play tougher and faster than anyone we'd played all year for 3 quarters. And I did see the post-game... someone (Montgomery maybe?) was talking about how he'd never played harder in his life. Your coach said the same thing, I think.

But whatever. I know it makes you feel better to say LSU just didn't care, otherwise losing to a pretty good Clemson team just wouldn't be possible. This is your board so I will try not to argue with you.

I don't know anything about LSU in 1996 but that was a dark, dark era for Clemson football. The 90s were basically a lost decade in the wake of the firing of Danny Ford. In the '58 Sugar Bowl, though, we were a pretty good program.

Correct because they played a 100+ plays because our offense sucks. Anybody that has to play that much will wear out and have to dig deep. I am talking on an emotional stand point. They were not nearly as pumped as the Bama, USCe, or A&M game. That is not a clemson thing it is a post bama game thing. They were the same way in the Ole Miss and Arky game.

But all game Dabo and others were talking about how huge this game was to measure where they are as a program and how far they need to go to be elite. It was a way bigger game for Clemson then it was for LSU. NC or bust, sorry bud SEC problems...you wouldn't understand!!!

Funny because we've run 100 plays several times the past two years and I've never seen players hitting the floor like LSU's. And if LSU's offense sucks so bad, then I don't see how they're unbeatable when they try hard. They scored 20+ on some pretty good defenses like Bama and SCar. Moreover, letting a team go out on national TV and not try sounds like a pretty serious coaching problem, which reflects as poorly on a program as having bad players would.

All in all, it sounds like fanspeak and excuses to me. Seems like it would be easier to admit that Clemson is pretty good and won a hard-fought game.

Look, this guy's right. We (LSU-- I have a degree, just don't post here much) got beat. We're making excuses like Bama and others do with us when we win. Did it mean more to Clemson? Yes, but I disagree that we didn't show up. Coaching was horrific and we could have won the game easily, but we didn't. Clemson did. Give them credit for winning on that night.

This.

Clemson was the better team on that night. It happens.

Jeremy Hill only getting 12 carries is all you need to know about how bad the game was called.
