Melvin Jones at RB... (Posted on 1/25/13 at 6:31 pm)
If Hill has a great year and decides to leave next year along with Blue, I think this Guy could step in and run the ball with Hilliard(unless he decides to leave too). This no RB in the class thing is what worries me some.

People think he's too slow to play MLB (they suggest DL)... So why put him in the backfield? If he put on 40 lbs I can see him taking snaps at fullback. But no to RB.

The people who think he's slow don't understand that he was playing in the 260-270 range. Not one of the recruiting site has his actual weight up. People talk about him going to the D-line not because of his speed but because of his weight. If he puts on 40 pounds he'll be over 300 and that doesn't sound like a fullback to me even if our full backs are bigger than most.

I was thinking his weight was 240... So by that understanding 40 added lbs would put him at our desired fullback weight.
If he's really 260-270 then yeah, he wouldn't have to gain much if any. I just see Chavis wanting to keep him at MLB and cutting his weight. He can just a easily play DE at that weight as will. He's already bigger than Sam and mingo if your weights ate correct.

I know Chavis wants speed over mass but for a mike a 260 lb'er would work in his system. As long as he isn't slow. Who am I to question the chief though. Hell put him where he puts him and he'll do well. I'm most excited about Melvin. Future skull cracker.
