He was just trying to keep the Union together. Don't hate the man for being principled. He has ties to Louisiana and LSU for what it's worth.

The carriers surely can't but when the USS Seawolf (SSN-21) was first commissioned she could. In fact, they ended up tweaking what was considered 100% power during the next calorimetric to ensure it wouldn't go that fast operationally anymore unless needed.

The Jimmy Carter and and Connecticut were built accordingly to this plan and the Virginia Class was also modified to lower the speed (stress on the hull, note the curvature on the hull leading to the sail that is absent on previous submarine classes)

I can understand that. However, I dislike the notion that the Northern US was any better or even cared about slavery as a morality issue like they're portrayed.

Also, I extremely dislike people hating the south because of it. Nobody alive today had anything to do with slavery. Also, (and this doesn't make it right), I feel like people act like the southern US was the only region/civilization in the world to have slavery.
