Have any of you guys been able to make a few hog hunts with an AR (if you have one)? If so whats the most you killed in one hunt, as in about 5-10 hogs come in and you just start layen down fire

I personally dont see the advantage of hog hunting with one.

4 hogs in 5 shots. Pulled up on a group of them in a field. Rem 700 .270

I dont see this number being very big. Hogs are tough and if you started spraying a group of them then you would wound a bunch but prolly not kill many at all.

We killed over 100 from a helicopter when we first high fenced our place. You had to have a permit to shoot so we didn't get to but they did steer a few groups into the food plots for us to blast. Our neighbor (Stone Cold Steve Austin ) has a little more than double the acreage and they killed over 300.

I have not had a chance to shoot any hogs with my AR yet. Twice I have had about 20-30 hogs cross my ROW. Once I never got a shot off and the other time I only shot one (30-30).
I have started taking my AR along with my 30-30 when deer hunting (even while bow hunting). I want to be able to get off as many shots as possible when they show back up.

Shot many with an AR in traps at clsoe range. Freaking FMJ zips right through them and they keep on going.

We have got into groups of 10-15 before with an SKS and AK and laid waste to them. JHP 7.62x39 dont exactly zip right through them. Not sure how many died we gut shot a bunch and let them run off to die so we did not have to deal with the carcasses.

If you want to collect meat though, any scoped semiauto or even bolt rifle that you are proficent with will work. Just hit em in the head.

Between my friend and I, we found 10 of them. No telling if we lost some little ones in the grass, or had some gut shot hogs run off.

My friend's cousin killed 7 the other day with an AR-10.

An AR isn't a necessity to kill a lot of hogs, but I like it because it's easy to carry, and can hold a lot of ammo. When all this mess is cleared up I might look into getting a big bore upper for hogs.

Right now I'm planning on using my .44 lever gun and revolver when I go after hogs after deer season.

FMJ doesn't work with hogs. Learned that several times.
