By the bowl game, you had 10 guys who knew they were going pro and the team was flat.

That excuse might fly if it were one year, but not three out of the last four.

The whole season was a cluster of injuries, suspensions, lack of cohesion and motivation, and a hang over from the best season/worst loss in LSU history

Yep, another failure of a season.

the team won 10 games, was one play away from winning 11, and was one first down away from playing in the SECCG with a shot at the BCS. Pretty remarkable, really.

What's remarkable is that, even with the added motivation of revenge, the advantage of home field, the underdog role, playing at night and with his team outplaying Alabama all over the field, Miles still managed to gift-wrap a second straight national championship for Saban. They should build a statue of Miles outside of Bryant-Denny.

Now, we bring in a stellar recruiting class and have a very talented team.

Yep, just like every year.

14 starters return with a host of young, talented guys ready to step up.

Yep, just like every year.

Expectations are low because people are looking at what we lost

No, expectations are low because we know that even if we have a legitimate national championship contender that is preseason #1, we'll still find a way to frick it up and end up in the Peach Bowl.

LSU will be better next year and will compete for a national championship again. No doubt in my mind.

Depending on how you define the term "compete", Tulane will "compete" for a national championship next year, too. And their chances of winning one are fairly comparable to ours. Both are under 1%.

85th in total offense just about say's it all. I wonder who is responsible for this? The coach maybe?

Right...LSU has played for the BCS title 25% of the time since 05, won 85 games, and while LSU was doing that Tulane was going 23-73, but yet you feel their chances of winning a title is the same.

You might want to think bout changing your screen name to just "Nuts".

Hate is a strong word, Miles deserves all the criticism he gets. When he coaches good we let him know, when he doesn't, we let him know.

My post was sarcasm.

I don't remember playing in the Peach in 2011.

Some of you are ridiculous.

It is just that every mistake that Les makes gets blown out of complete proportion

I think the reason your not seeing Saban's mistakes being exaggerated is because he has won 4NC. Let him throw it 3times without a 1st down and lose a bowl game. Tide fans would still be climbing the fence at his house!

Not the same, comparable.

You might buy 20 lottery tickets while I might buy only 1. Your chances of winning are 20 times as good as mine, but since both our chances are practically nil, they are comparable.

So it is with LSU and Tulane and the 2013 football national championship.

We've played in the Peach Bowl three times since 2005. All three of those teams started the season ranked in the top 10, two of them in the top five.

If everything is so bad why are you still a fan. Maybe there's a team out there you would enjoy, maybe the Gumps would let you in.

And we've played in the BCS title game twice in that span.

Only Ohio State, Florida and Bama can say they've done that.

And if we had had bama's schedule last season we would have finished at 11-1 and in a BCS bowl.

So of course you will reply with, "well we still would have lost the one game that matters". Well guess what, bama lost the one game that mattered the year before and yet people like you give them a pass.

Eta: on top of all that, 2/3 years that we went to the Peach our record was equal or better than all but one year under saban.

Ok. Fine. Everyone knows this. So, all the griping and whining is even more pathetic.

What SEC team could return 8 of 22 starters, win 10 games, and be within a hair of a national championship? Alabama, maybe. That's all.

Saban is not perfect. He makes mistakes also. They are usually not the magnitude of screw ups as CLM.

Comparable only in the fact they both play college football.

For sure not comparable in their chances of playing for the BCS title.

The betting odds I have seen have LSU at 12-1 and Tulane isn't even listed with the highest odds I can find being 300-1.

To me, that's no where near comparable, but each to our own.
