Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."

Would rather have one repealing the Federal income tax amendment.

You understand that Senators and Representatives are citizens? This is stupid.

That would be amazing if it got passed, but people would need to get voted out first. And term limits would probably need to be in place. But yeah, it's a lovely idea.

Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but what exactly doesn't apply to them? Like how they can't get pulled over for speeding on their way to a session of congress? The healthcare analogy is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, as they already have their own health insurance. I've heard that being floated around in similar regards to this "amendment" So what are some examples?

Not sure. I checked Snopes and Snopes said it was "mostly false". I'm not sure what part of this is true. Thought some of you might know. And while I first saw it on Facebook, it's all over the web right now.

You understand that Congress passes laws that apply to everyone but them right?

I'm still confused how laws passed by them don't apply to them. I honestly don't know what yall are talking about and need to be educated on the topic, if said discrepancies exist

Interesting. So preventing themselves from explicitly exempting themselves from legislation passed?

I think that was the point of the op. I can't stand that the elists play by different rules than us. The list in that article is only the tip of the iceberg.

I like the idea, but not as an amendment to the Constitution. Every new amendment added makes the existing ones less meaningful.

Why not just hit such laws with a 14th amendment equal protections case?

They exempted themselves from insider trading laws until last year...and even when they "fixed" that, they exempted their spouses. They also don't practice equal pay for equal work on their congressional staffs, even though that's been the law since 1963.

L.A., the very fact that they passed laws where they exempted themselves should revoke those laws as being unconstitutional. Maybe this is the avenue we need to take and find all exemptions they have made for themselves as well as certain businesses and people.
