I'm not a big country music fan but it energizes the crowd and the video shows a lot of great scenes from my home state.

Deal with it.

I was speaking in general terms. Sure, there is alot of German ancestary in South central Louisiana too. Politically, French Catholics in South central Louisiana, Anglo Protestants in north Louisiana and the various african ethnic groups in southeast Louisiana are the most important and prominent groups and have definitely defined Louisiana politics thoughout our history.

LSU isn't a high school in Abbeville

You missed the point. LSU and surrounding areas were NOT settled by anglo protestants like the overwhelming majority of the deep south region. Clear distinction from other SEC schools.

quote:

Louisiana is only about 16% French descent and it's difficult to believe LSU attendance would stray very far from that percentile, except likely lower with many out of state enrollees

Not sure about that number but Baton Rouge and surrounding areas do not have a large percentage of people whose ancestors where anglo protestant. Many LSU students are from these areas and yes from my area, Acadiana. Im just saying the LSU student body, although mostly white caucasions, are of diverse ancestry. Do alot of rednecks go there? Yes. A redneck school? No, it is much more than that. Tenn, UK, Bama, Miss St, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri all fit the "redneck school" mold better by sheer geography/ancestry.

THe point is the fans love it. The players love it. The recruits love it.

99% of people love it. It goes beyond country music. Its part of the experience. Do you listen to hey baby on your iPod? Probably not i know i don't, but i love it when the band plays it.

It's an overrated & overplayed song on gameday. But, I don't see why it shouldn't be played in TS.

Honestly, I just tune it out for the few minutes they play it.

I wish they'd stop playing that awful Mel McDaniel song "Louisiana Saturday Night."

I have not problem with "Calling Baton Rouge." For rainy games they can play Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "Louisiana Rain."

Is there anyway we can start a petition not the play that stupid Garth Brooks song before every home game in Tiger Stadium we sound like a bunch of redneck Ole Miss fans singing hotty toddy. It really is embarrassing . I would love to know the idiot decide to start that

I fricking hate country music. Most annoying shite on earth, beside house music.

"Callin Baton Rouge," while I hate the song, is good pregame. Crowd loves it. They participate.

The issue is not the song but the sound system...that needs to be improved drastically

I've put in a request at LSU on your behalf.

They said they don't care what you think.
