| Which scene was more valuable to the series? Breaking Bad and GOT Spoilers (Posted on 1/24/13 at 3:07 pm)
Major Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones Spoilers below . . . . which death was more important, shocking, etc. to its show? Gus Fring's death in Breaking Bad: or Ned Stark's death in Game of Thrones: any other deaths on shows that can compare to the two above? Please put spoiler alert before naming the character for the show

the title says spoiler so I won't put it here they're both almost even but if I had to pick I'd say Gus' death.

Ned Stark. There is no Game of Thrones without Ned's beheading.

Ned. You had to think Gus was gonna bite the bullet at some point. I thought the whole show was gonna be based on ned

no one thinks anything with Sean Bean in it will last with him being alive until the end.

ned's death shocked me...i hadn't read the books and i didn't see it coming. I agree that Fring's death was inevitable so it wasn't quite as shocking for me...still a great scene

You don't see it coming in the book either, at least I didn't. I was still naive about the ASOIAF universe. That event changed it for me.

Valuable? Probably Ned's death since it basically is the tipping point of the kingdom devolving into a long and brutal war. More impactful? Probably Gus's because the audience has been with him longer and actually has been given glimpses of who he is, where he's been, and why he does what he does. He was a true villain in a show filled with villains, he was a fan favorite, and his death very well could have ended the show, imo.

I just kept thinking, "They can't have Ned die. They never let the main character d_" and his head rolled down the steps of the Great Sept of Baelor. I was floored and hooked at the same time. I went back and read all of the books (rereading the first one right now) and re-watched the whole first season.
