The world is going to run out of oil in 30 years. It's been that way since 1900. No matter when you asked the experts will have told you 'in 30 years we will be out of oil'

233 billion barrels
frickin' a. Let's hope that this number is even close to accurate, and that is economically feasible for them to be recovered and sold at market price.

This is why polticians should be ignored.....Maybe someone can run this by obama and ask since all of this oil has been found if we can cut back on the ethanol bs.

What is the flow rate? Will it offset declines elsewhere? Probably not.
quote:
The reports estimated the company’s 16 million acres of land in the Arckaringa Basin in South Australia contain between 133 billion and 233 billion barrels of shale oil trapped in the region’s rocks.
Why are we looking at options like this if oil is so cheap and plentiful?

It is likely however that just 3.5 billion barrels . . . will be able to be recovered.

Why would such a large amount of oil just now be discovered?

Believe it or not MOST of the Earth has yet to be explored. Just wait until we go into really deep water in the middle of the Oceans. Antarctica is going to have a tremendous amount of oil as well.
