We have heard how Tulane went w a 51 yr old WR coach instead of a young up and comer bc of Johnsons recruiting connections. After a pretty solid start (he had tulane in the top 55 at one point), Tulane currently sits at #80 in the latest rankings. My question is, if a local man w connections cant recruit at tulane, then what will it take to get that program back on track? Getting invited to join the big 12? Ed orgeron and a fully stocked atm? Or will tulane need to have a petrino type who can win w two stars?

He's been recruiting really well so far. I wouldn't give much creedence to the #80 ranking, but even if you do, recruiting at #80, while finishing well below that on the field this season is still an improvement.

Some people may have had unrealistic expectations, but that's not CJs fault.

I was looking at Rivals Rankings over the weekend and saw that Tulane was in the mid 60s one spot ahead of Arkansas, also saw that ULL was dead last in nation. I figured that Curtis was done a good job.

Yea upon further review, he had two big decommitments that resulted in the 80+ ranking. Apparently some bigger schools (lville and zona st) offered these 2 recruits.

#80 in recruiting is awful

No excuse for that in Louisiana

First of all, CJ is doing a great job in recruiting. It's interesting how a player's ranking changes upon his commitment...

I think you'll see a surprise or two on signing day.

There are also some developments behind the scenes that will make it easier for CJ to recruit and retain talent over the next few years.

That is I can say right now.

It involves how we've reorganized the academic part of the school and how Cowen is more open to helping out athletics...

I don't use Apple products .

If you had a Samsung Galaxy S III or Note II I would S Beam it to you. Apple will have that capability around iphone 10 or so.

In the meantime, shoot me an email at my screen name at yahoo.

With some of the guys decommitting, it's going to bring the class ranking down. But they're going after the right guys in the area. It's tough to beat out the team that just won the Sugar Bowl when you only won two games for a kid. But Louisville going after your recruits means you have some good recruits.

Even if they can't get Clark back in the fold, hopefully Smith stays around. I think he's going to be a really good one. One of the Tulane guys on the recruiting board said him and Clark may be a package deal.

What he needs to do is sign all the players LSU processes every year like he did with Davenport this year.

Smaller schools need to focus on finding diamonds in the rough or late qualifiers in order to get talented players. The best players Hud has brought into Lafayette were unranked. Justin Hamilton wasn't ranked and he's a monster defensive tackle.
