Watch his highlights again and tell me if you see the speed required to get seperation in the sec.

I really can't tell exactly how fast he is from the highlights that we all have. I see him during the snap, and then he comes back into the picture while the ball is coming down.

Off the line, I can see a great burst. Can you see that? At the end, when the ball's coming down, I see that he's run the correct route and gotten enough separation to beat his defender for the ball.

I expect him to become a lot more fluid and precise in his route running after he gets here. Again, he just started playing football, in general, compared to like every other WR that's 4-stars+ on Rivals.

Also, Landry does NOT have great speed or height. He has pretty good route running ability and exception hands. Spears does not appear to be obviously slower than Landry, and his has about a 4-inch height advantage. I don't expect any of our WR commits to have Landry's hands.

What's the problem?

I hope you are wrong too....but at the end of the day you should trust Les and Co. They do not mess up very often.

That's exactly what I was thinking. LSU needs a big receiver that can stretch the field now. This kid won't do that next year. He is a project that may pay off in 3-4 years.

You re-watch the highlights fool. That kid is burning LA kids in the playoffs for 4a teams, several of which were inner city new orleans schools, stacked with athletes to play at cornerback that go play college ball year in year out..

His high school, Holy cross, plays a full slate of teams like this, and did so this year, in a very tough district.

Besides, google it! His high school coach has been quoted that he runs a 4.5, which is fast enough for a 6'2 195 pound high schooler...

Another video, not sure if these two catches were the OP, but check out Spears at the 5:55 mark and then right after on a catch and run over the middle.

love the concentration in the 2nd TD by spears.

also, whoever edited that film needs to learn what pass interference is, because the play he highlighted with a question mark was just really good coverage
