| DOJ Lawyer Brags on Facebook He “Started the crowd booing" At Paul Ryan (Posted on 1/23/13 at 8:15 am)
About that DOJ Lawyer Who Booed Paul Ryan By Hans A. von Spakovsky January 22, 2013 5:40 P.M. Eliana Johnson noted yesterday on the Corner that a lawyer in the Voting Section of the Department of Justice, Dan Freeman, proudly announced on his Facebook page that he “started the crowd booing when Paul Ryan came out” at the inauguration. As I pointed out in my series of articles on hires at the Justice Department in 2011, co-authored with Christian Adams, Freeman is one of the very liberal lawyers hired by the Obama administration for a career civil-service position (not a political job). Freeman was brought into the Voting Section “following a fellowship at the New York Civil Liberties Union. He previously interned at the ACLU, where he assisted the organization with its efforts to attack the Bush administration’s national security policies. He also helped to challenge the ‘state secrets privilege’ and to support the rights of terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay during an internship at Human Rights First. On his résumé, Freeman proudly notes his membership in the liberal American Constitution Society, as well as his service as co-chair of the Yale Law School Democrats.” Career civil-service jobs are supposed to be filled on a non-partisan basis, a rule ignored by this administration as the analysis of the résumés (include Freeman’s) of more than 100 highly partisan hires in the Civil Rights Division reveals. This is particularly important at the Justice Department, which is the chief law-enforcement agency of the government and one of the most powerful agencies in the executive branch. Nothing could possibly be worse for its reputation than the belief that its prosecutions are being pursued in the interests of partisan political advantage, not the interests of blind justice. Such abuses are particularly dangerous because of the enormous power wielded by department lawyers such as Freeman. Freeman and his misbehavior at the inauguration (of which he is apparently proud) is just another example of how ideological the lawyers are these days at the Justice Department. There is also probably no doubt that he will be treated as a hero when he returns to the office today, instead of being referred to the Office of Professional Responsibility and disciplined for publicly embarrassing the department and publicly showing how left-wing ideology and pure partisanship drives too many of the career civil servants who work there. Elections have consequences. Is anyone surprised that with Eric Holder as the AG we have fringe lawyers working for him?

Yes, gone are the days when these jobs were filled with Liberty Law School grads and US Attorneys were fired for not pursuing the required political witch hunts. Yes yes we miss those days of non-ideological justice appointments.

Do you think his boo'ing at the inauguration is appropriate behavior?

I have a close friend that is an AUSA...the stories he has to tell of the Holder Justice Department, in particular the civil rights and voting sections, are mindblowing.

After the classless reaction from the crowd at the 2009 ceremonies, why would something like this be a surprise? Everyone knows the types that vote for Obama. This is nothing new. I wonder if they trashed the grounds again. I've yet to see that reported and I've looked. Trashing that area again would be expected of this group as well.

This is a microcosm of a a much larger problem. Recently, emboldened by new victory, the left has become extremely malicious in their dealing with conservative counterparts. Although there is always some rough language from both sides, it has been amped to a new level. When the director of political news of a major news outlet openly suggests destroying one party over another, it is time to call these people out. Unfortunately, this problem is getting worse. I do not agree with many of the ideas from the left, but I recognize the benefits of having a two party system to provide additional checks and balances. The bias in the MSM has reached staggering proportions. So much that it has become an extension of the left's political machine.

Very forward thinking, aren't you? And the DOJ is doing such a great job doing what exactly?

Oh I agree. The fact that one lawyer posts on his FB wall that he booed Ryan is proof the DOJ is doing a bad job. I mean just like in the other thread on TD where all of y'all condemned this State Board of Education president LINK for posting a picture of Hitler in reference to Obama and gun control. Oh wait, y'all have done that yet?

This..... I don't think any of them even think it is even worth hiding it anymore. I'm sure it will really improve the feeling the country has about the media......

The days of non-ideologically committed FedGov employees are over. If you work for FedGov and want to continue in your lucrative career, you'd better get with the program and support the party that advocates Big Powerful and Ever-Growing FedGov. That would be the party of Pres Barack Obama. This is a New Age, and a New FedGov. The old rules no longer apply.

"Civility", according to Obama and his ilk is this: You STFU while I demean you, all the while demanding you pay more taxes to support my lifestyle. When you object, we will call you every name in the book, and see to it that you are the one who is shamed.

I've never seen that story. I consider my myself right-leaning and I don't feel it's appropriate behavior.
