My brother and I hit Hopedale again today...although not many others did. We don't fish weekends, and Monday was just part of an extended weekend, so we waited until today to see if we could match Friday's haul.

It was sunny again, but also cold and windy again. Who ordered the friggin' cold front?? Anyway, a cold front pushed thru overnight, and everyone knows the fish get lockjaw after a front passes, right?

So the water was even lower than Friday when we first got to our spot, but it was coming in, and we wanted to do some exploring. We went into a pond we hadn't been in yet, and I caught a nice red right off the bat.

We saw several fish in a series of 3 ponds, including the first one, but didn't get another bite. Usually by the time we saw them, they had already seen us, so they were a bit cautious to say the least.

So knowing we had 3 nice ponds to fish later this year, we decided to hit the spot we caught em Friday, and they were still there. We picked up 2 or 3 real quick, then did some more exploring in some other ponds. We eventually had 6 in the boat, and decided to go back to that same spot where we caught em Friday and earlier in the morning, and in no time, we finished out our limit. We then continued to catch and release for fun, and added a speckled trout to the box as lagniappe in the process.

Turned out to be a great day...

Honestly, JB, I think we hit em before the pressure really rose enough to force their jaws shut. The front had JUST passed. I live 100 miles N of Chalmette in MS, and it came thru about midnight here. Probably didn't go thru Chalmette until 3 or 4 am. And I don't think it's much of a front. I was worried about it though...I ain't gonna lie.
