Yeah, Obama was on the ground floor of the private sector lithium ion battery research and development teams back in the 1970's.

Yet the board members at Boeing didn't heed any of those experts' warnings. Yeah, that's gotta be Obama's fault. It's also probably his fault that Chevrolet has failed meet their expectations as far as sales of their Chevy Volt are concerned.
Oh, and the $250M that Obama gave A123 got turned into $450M when a Chinese firm bought it.
But listen, I'm not a huge fan of the White House gambling by picking future economic winners. I'm more annoyed that every little thing that goes wrong in this country is blamed on one sole individual. It's a very simple-minded excuse and is designed to take the spot light off of all the other guilty parties.

Wasn't Boeing going through a legal battle with NLRB to open a plant in South Carolina about that time? Maybe they agreed to use the battery so they could open the plant in a right to work state.

When it comes to the issue of failed green energy ventures, I think alot of people put blame on Obama because this has been one of his pet projects he has pushed so hard for ever since he first ran for president. He's been hellbent on getting these types of projects going and for the most part its been a huge failure.
