Just curious if you saw the oline last year.
After injuries occur, proper depth can help you, not flounder towards the end of the year.
Maybe you are misunderstanding the word. I am talking about depth, not starting talent.

As for the dts, you're right. Possibly in 2014, ferguson and johnson will be gone, but you can't pile up 12 players for only 2 spots; and then only have 14 payers occupy 5 spots on the oline.I understand that ols can be interchangeable, but I don't know where you are going here.

Also, do the math.
There are not enough ol on the team to be 'LOADED'.

You're right...we're NOT loaded on the OL:

Josh Williford
La'el Collins
Elliott Porter
Jerald Hawkins
Derek Edinburgh
Evan Washington
Trai Turner
Jonah Austin
Vadal Alexander
Fehoko Fanaika
Ethan Pocic

+ incoming freshman that aren't EE.

Just for reference to my original statement, here's our DT situation:

Ego Ferguson
Christian LaCouture
Mickey Johnson
Quentin Thomas
Anthony Johnson

+ incoming freshman that aren't EE.

Just let me know if you have any questions about any of this.

It's always good to have fresh legs on the defensive line.

Yeah...Logan was a big loss, although we don't know how most of the guys listed above are going to step up...or when they'll step up.

I think QT is going to be ready very soon...I've been calling him the next one since we first extended him his offer while he was at BB. He's a mean MF, and it seems like he's learned to stay out of trouble off the field. Watch out!

Yes, I do have questions:

Howd they work out for us at the end of the year.

Do you call 11 ol's depth? Because I don't. In fact, this is why, when your starters go down, proper DEPTH is what bails you out....which is not what happened last year.

But I see your mistake in reading anything I wrote earlier: you misinterpret depth vs talent.

I hope you're not the genius running my 401 k. You have to plan ahead to do that, kinda like having to plan ahead for depth. But then again; you sound like you're in high school so no worries there.

Lemme know if there are any more questions you are having trouble with.

Pretty well considering we lost our All-American Tackles and a very good RG. There were a few bumps, but we had the depth and talent to handle it for the most part. Depth and talent are nowhere near as lacking on the OL. DT seems like it could pose a problem. Hopefully QT and Mickey step up.

Cool. Just forget the bowl game.

Also, hawkins, pocic, fanaika and a few others haven't played a snap! And if adding recruits solves the dline "lack of depth"issue in "davedog's" opinion why wouldn't you get a 3 or 4 deep on the oline, too? Everything about her post contradicts itself.

Just because someones an early enrolee, doesn't mean they've seen an s e c dlineman.
Sheesh.

dstone12, I made it pretty easy for you to drop your argument and join the side that's right, but I guess you feel like being stubborn and not giving in.

Honestly, I get like that sometimes, too.

So it's your opinion that we should have had a bunch of great OL depth available to replace the entire offensive line, who collectively played like shite, in a bowl game that our team and coaches didn't show up for. I was wrong, it sounds even worse after I typed it out.

You have solved the riddle.

Let's just sign 5 ol every 4 years and forget the rest!just make sure you're signing all s e c guys.

Dave, I'm not petioning for depth, just for the sake of numbers. With all positions, you get winners and losers. Some develop, some don't. That's why you don't leave yourself with 11 ols and forget it. Look at how many cbs we have. We've offered that many for a reason. Damn, you are so stupid.

Its okay, I get like you, too. I deal with folks like you at work and just say "forget it" and move on to another subject that you won't make much sense on.

dave for not answering one question posed, but tossing vagueries out for fun. I'm going to need more out of you before "going over to your side."

We have depth at DT but OLine is thin

You have that backwards. Considering that we rotate about 6 DLs in every game, we're pretty damn thin on the DL. Hopefully Gilmore and LaCouture will be ready because they'll likely be in the rotation next season.

We will have 5 new olinemen this year, including Fanaika and Pocic. That's 14 OL. Do you understand that certain OLinemen can play multiple positions? Williford can play both OG spots. So we have 9 backups and already have a verbal from an OL for next year. DT is the more pressing need.

No it's 8. And all of 2 of them have real game experience. I like our haul this year. 9 or 10 would be great. As it is a position of dire need, we can't afford to miss taking 2 or 3 guys this year. Whereas on the OL, we will more than likely have a RSFR starting at LT with good options for a backup, and two returning starting Sophmore's on the Right Side.
Plus a shite load of quality depth plus a singing class including 5 new signees. The OL has returning starters as well as quality depth. The DT position has two guys coming back that got meaningful snaps. Neither was a starter. You don't think it's a good idea to hedge or bets at the position?

Just saying I'm done trying to convince you of something that I feel like is pretty obvious from the evidence I gave you.

I guess you just don't think that the guys that we have are that good after watching the bowl game. I don't feel that way at all...not even close.

Just curious has something happened with M. Bain. I dont see anyone mentioning him in regards to depth next year.

Kids a beastand will get a chance to contribute from day oen in fall practice.

He's not on the current roster as a return or an EE, so he's sort of being left out of the discussion, for now.

I agree...I'm very excited to have him as a Tiger. But, he's likely going to redshirt in the fall, as he's a bit of a project technique/control wise.

The sky is the limit with that kid, but from what I've read he is extremely raw. He may catch on from Day 1, but sometimes his type take a little longer to fit into a system.
