As you seem to be of the belief the President is the leader of the Party that nominated him: Who is suppose to be the leader of a party not holding the Executive Branch in the US? Why is the national chariman of both parties not the Leader of the party? What does the President actually do as leader of the Party? Does he attend Party conferences when not planning drone strikes or playing golf?

Our country is quite fluid because we are free, we are a democracy. Can't party leaders change over night? Of course they can. I'm just asking posters on this board who they view as the leader of the GOP? I consider Barak Obama as the leader of the Dems. It's who they look to and who is setting the Democratic Agenda for America. The GOP is going thru the process of finding a leader. Is it Paul Ryan? Is it Mitt Romney? Is it Newt Gingrich? Is it Mitch McConnell? Is it John Boehner? Is it Rand Paul? Before the GOP can mount a successful alternative to the Dems they have to decide on leader they can all support. So who is that? Or maybe the answer is naming 2 or 3 people that one leader will come from. Just asking the question of what you think?

The Republican Party is a rudderless ship right now. They have no leadership.

Yep. They were led/driven by Tea Party ideas and their agenda the past two years. That got them fricked in the ass. Now they are just drifting IMO.

Honestly there is no leader right now. They're searching for one. Hopefully a decent one will step up. I have little faith in boehner

Actually, that is not true IMO. The Tea Party is the reason they control the House. The GOP is in a weird position in that their base more closely aligns with TP ideals that the ideals of moderates or indies. The main issue for the GOP is two-fold: (1) The Democrats have positioned themselves as the party of stuff and anti-personal accountability; and (2) demographics. The GOP has no leadership that can effectively combat those two trump cards that the democrats now firmly hold. If the GOP dropped all social issues from their platform they: (1) immediately lose a large portion of their base, and (2) even if they didn't lose their base, still don't gain any ground because they cannot out democrat the democrats. Sadly, the only way for the GOP to regain footing is going to be a complete collapse of the economy such that the government checks dry up while the democrat are in control.

Well, the GOP needs a lightning rod for the media AND a leader. I don't believe they should be the same entity. Palin seems to be the lighting rod.

I agree with most of what you say, but I disagree with this
quote:
(1) The Democrats have positioned themselves as the party of stuff and anti-personal accountability;
This is just a right wing fantasy thing going on here. The democratic party does not have a sole grip on the party of free stuff, the republicans do a pretty good job at this (see medicare prescription drug coverage). They just give free stuff to different demographics. The republicans are pretty much fricked for a while now though. THey need to look at their platform, and their messages. Recraft a litlte bit. I think freedom will always sell but the republican party doesn't emphasize that.

Watch what happens in the mid-terms. Just watch. But I'll agree there are some fundamental problems in presidential demographics.
