I know I'm about 12 years late but I watched it for the first time last night and woah.
Tom Cruise is fricking crazy and Cameron Diaz will haunt my dreams..

It's been a long time since I have seen that. I vaguely remember it was pretty crazy. I vividly remember Penelope Cruz though.

All I remember is being in my teens watching it with my mom and Cameron Diaz yelling something about swallowing cum. Was a bit awkward.

I thought the first half of this movie was great. I loved the scenes with Tom and Penelope... And then the crash happened and it all went downhill from there. Just didn't get it, didn't enjoy it.

Sounds like me talking about Terms of Endearment and Steel Magnolias.
Watched all of Vanilla Sky for the first time myself recently. Had caught the end of it and had no idea what it was about. Without seeing the first part of it to know he didn't start out that way I was confused. I was left thinking it must have been one of those movies Cruise would do hoping to get awards for it not being "his type of role" (like Monster-2003 for Charlize Theron).
The first part of it is pretty entertaining. Almost a more grown up, New York, movie version of Entourage. Looked like a good life and made the rest of the movie make sense.

I think this is really the type of movie to watch twice. I saw it at the theater and liked it then, but saw it two years ago for the second time and caught a lot I either missed or did not understand the first time. Have to say it was one of the very few movies I enjoyed as much and appreciated more the second time (which was 10 years later).
