Maybe because they couldn't be put into a genre that could be marketed and sold. I discovered them while working in Bufffalo and they are one of my favorite all time bands.

At their peak I lived in Colorado and they were like The Beatles in all those hippy mountain towns. One of my favorite live shows of that era.
