Literally one of the best meals I have ever had in Baton Rouge...

For restaurant week (Dig Baton Rouge), they are offering for $35 an appetizer (tamales, gumbo or bisque, or salad), a steak (I got a 1 Ib sirloin, cooked medium with fries), and dessert (bread pudding, can't think of the other choice)

Everything was fresh, and piping hot. Tamales were excellent...of course it was my first time eating them, and I ate the outside by accident on the first bite.

They brought out these little 'drop' biscuits...awesome with honey. Steak was cooked perfectly, and fries were tasty and fresh. My wife got a side of mac and cheese...very good as well. The bread pudding was only average, but that was the only 'slight' downside.

My wife and I ate/drank like a king, for about $100 with tip.

Highly recommended.

I've been to the original Doe's in Greenville, MS, about a dozen times and I've yet to be impressed. It just happens to be the best option in that shitty Delta town.

I could take you to 3-4 different restaurants in Columbus, a town of 25,000, that beat it hands down.

It's not bad, just not special.

You would think after unimpressive time 6 or 7 you'd say frick it and quit going. Not sure how many Michilin stars you though it had, but when you walk in through the front door into the kitchen dodging flames, knives, slabs of meat and hardworking happy arse black folk you should have probably altered your approach.

It just happens to be one of the few real places left in this country. You know, not Walmart or Lonestar or Bed Bath and Beyond. I'm not surprised it's novelty is lost on a dumb arse gump such as yourself.

how the hell do you come to this conclusion? Not liking Doe's means you suck to be around....get real

Doe's is not very good in relation to the cost.

I enjoy the place more than most on this board. I've been about a dozen times BC my fil enjoys the place. I've only paid for one meal there so that may skew things a bit.
