Previous discussion on free agent DEs HERE

PFF look at DTs HERE

I don't see DT as big of a hole as many of the draft pundits. Hicks-Bunkley-Johnson with Tyrunn Walker in the wings is enough to build from IMO. I know Hicks is uber raw but thought he should have been let go for more reps with Ellis headed out. As far as that fatass #7 overall he may not have been a complete bust like Fried Chicken Sullivan but he was a long ways from earning the $33+mil the club has paid him over 5 years. See him on the PFF survey? It stuck out to me that he had more snaps (719) than any other negatively rated DT. Our eyes were right! Go spread your fail somewhere else. Another over rated USC bust.

Of possible interest on that list I'd go Richard Seymour or Jason Jones as old guys that might have a year left in the tank. They won't command top dollar and likely want to be on the best contender possible. Henry Melton would be a great add in that he can play inside or out. Suspect he'll be out of the Saints price range tho.

Agree. I don't know why so many of the pundits think DT is such a highly rated need. If its not DE, its got to be OT IMO.
Ill be pretty annoyed with anything else. Ill actually pretty disappointed with anything besides the best pass rusher, but I see OT as in investment to keep Drew up and standing.

Seymour would be pretty cool. I bet he'd like to get the hell out of Oakland

I definitely don't understand why all the experts are we need a DT so early in the draft. Losing Ellis isn't as huge as they are making it out to be

It looks like a quality DLman whether tackle or end will be available at #15. The Saints are one of the stronger BPA teams. Still, I can't see a Hankins or Richardson being that much more of a BPA than one out of DEs Jordan, Montgomery, or Ansah. It's BPA but need is a factor in the equation. A true playmaker that has to be accounted for every play like a JPP or Clay Matthews would go further towards improving this D than most realize IMO. Think how teams have to scheme having to face Sproles or Graham. We have no one near that force on defense. Sharper was the last true one. Vilma was there but his skills have obviously diminished.

Sheldon Richardson can play both DT and DE and hes a great pass rusher at both positions. One thing i heard about him is he can be a trouble maker off field.

Unless someone falls significantly I think Sheldon Richardson is going to be the best player on the board, dude is going to be an impact player.

He's fantastic. High motor, plays hard. Maybe needs to get a little stronger, but put him in a pro weight program and you max out that body and allow him to utilize his filthy athletic abilities.

It's not that hard to understand. We were last against the run. I don't think we will go DT, but it's easy to understand why pundits have us picking a DT.

He'll probably be gone for when the Saints pick.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Saints trade back if they don't get that 2nd pick back. They could use DE, OT, and DB.
