Are we supposed to find Melissa McCarthy funny?

She disgusts me more than anything. Everyone raved about her in Bridesmaids but I don't think I found anything she did funny.

Just saw the preview for her new movie and it looks OK but again it looks like she is trying to go over the top and Will Ferrell/Jim Carrey her part.

She's funny in small doses but Hollywood is trying to shove her down our throats.

I went to see This is 40 a few weeks back and she was in two of the previews before the movie... then she was in the movie.

I don't even think this is accurate. I can't stand her.

This I agree with.

I think her scenes in This is 40 were so over the top that it didn't even fit in with the movie.

Agree completely. She is not funny at all. It's like she is trying to be a female Chris Farley except he was funny in addition to being fat so he played off of that. She is just fat.

Melissa McCarthy was the only thing I liked about Bridesmaids, one of the most overrated movies of the last ten years. That being said, however, she still wasn't that funny despite her being the strongest part of that film.

She was relatively funny in bridesmaids. I don't know any of her other stuff.

Her character got old to me real quick in that movie.

I think I wanted to laugh at her because nothing else was really that funny. If being a fat obnoxious slob is gonna be her thing, yeah that could get old real quick.

You just summed it up. I didn't give a crap about anything going on in that movie. Go figure my gay assistant thought it was sooooo great. His taste in movies is awful.

Bridesmaids is legitimately the most overrated comedy ever.

I really think Hangover was. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. I just felt like I had a lot of people trying to force feed me how funny it was thus making it a let down.

Hangover grew on me. I didn't fully appreciate it until like the third viewing. And you either like galifinakis or not. If you don't then you probably wouldn't like hangover.

I like Galifinakis. I've seen some of his stuff live before. The movie wasn't bad but the build up by other people ruined it. It was like the Star Wars prequels. Even if they were done really well they would never live up to the hype.

It was too reliant on completely unrealistic situations. Driving around in a cop car, getting tazed in the face, a tiger in the bathroom, getting punched by Tyson, it was too much. It required a total suspension of disbelief in nearly every scene.

She's "chick funny".

In other words, she's funny but has a natural handicap that only makes her funny to about half of the population.

A comedy? No way.
