Really? As cheap as memory is this all they put in the next gen system? That CPU looks good though. Not sure about the GPU.

However, an important distinction lies in the type of RAM on offer. Each of the PS4's 2-4 GB will be GDDR5 RAM, which is notably faster and more efficient at graphics processing than the DDR3 or DDR4 expected to feature in Xbox 720. NeoGAF techies estimate that this disparity will thus even out, with PS4's memory speed likely compensating for Xbox 720's larger amount (and vice versa)

I understand it's faster but one of the biggest complaints some devs have had of the current gen systems was the amount of ram limiting certain actions in games. Cliffy B and Vonderharr are both on record as saying they had hopes than Sony and MS would just load up the next gen on ram. Not sure if it being faster and more efficient will make up for the lack of memory to devs or not as I am not one but it just seems like they are missing an opportunity here.

4GB of RAM is more than enough for any game, especially at GDDR5.

That's because the games developed now have to make sure it's more than enough. I see this as a possible bottle neck again going forward. Consoles once again holding back game development.

I look forward to the ensuing dick measuring contest when both consoles are announced. I unfortunately don't have the technical expertise to clown on the 720s specs.

I don't care about the dick measuring but I would like to see each of them have specs that won't continue to limit game development. I know that would put them out of the price range of where a console needs to be but one can dream I guess.

Lol, no. A PC only needs 4GB of RAM for gaming, anything over that is for other processes, and that won't change anytime remotely soon.

I'm interested to hear what Hog and YouTube client and president cofounder and budding star stout have to say about this.

From the comments and apparently another article
quote:
The PS4 will feature 2GB Unified RAM, shared between the CPU and GPU.
I will just wait until something other than rumors are posted to say anything more.

Has anyone jerked off about how their PC is still better in this thread yet?

It really doesn't need to be said as it's pretty obvious this is true but I can if you want me to? ETA:

CPU looks awesome, but only 2-4 GB of RAM? Most PCs come with at least 4 standard now, easily being able to upgrade to 8. Just seems like you're setting ceiling low

If true than that CPU will be way better than what the 720 will have. The rumors are the CPU in the 720 will be an 8 core dual threaded @2.2GHZ but most of the cores will be dedicated to the Kinect.
