Right. Because banning drugs has really taken them of the streets... why do you think a ban on guns will work?

Very true. What would my big goofy untrained arse do against a few Marines sent down my cul-de-sac to stop me? Not much. And could I fire on American soldiers? People who use the defense against tyranny rationale wrap your heads around that. Could you fire on a group of US military troops who were sent to enforce US law? Even if you disagreed with it? I don't think I could.

The countries ban on fully automatic weapons has worked nearly flawlessly and saved thousands if not millions of lives.

I have no doubt it has prevented a few nightmares from being bigger nightmares but millions is excessive.

but it should just become more difficult for people to own something that is ONLY good for killing people.

Why?

You use the term ONLY good for killing people as if that is a bad thing. You see it as only providing a negative service.

If you think it is only used for killing then you have to admit it is also used for defense. So then why would you want it harder for someone to obtain something that could be used to defend themselves. You can't have it both ways.

quote:

And what I HOPE happens is that your ability to have one and shoot one becomes more regulated.

Why, he hasn't acted irresponsible. Just because you don't understand the reasons he enjoys these weapons or feels safer by owning them doesn't mean he shouldn't. Nobody is asking you to buy one.

quote:

If you want the luxury of shooting an AR-15 or similar it should be a luxury.

WOW...jus WOW. It is clear by your remarks that you really are ignorant when it comes to weapons. Why is an AR-15 bad? All guns kill people, can you point me to the ones designed just to wound people or animals?

What gives you the right to tell someone who lives in an area where police response times are several minutes away for help, what kind of firearm they should have to protect themselves.

Can we start with Starbucks???

I mean, does anyone really NEED a $5 cup of f*cking coffee?

I mean, not only does no one NEED a $5 Starbucks, but its bad for your health and your pocketbook. Just think of all the baby mommas/Obama voters who have no intention of EVER working who could "use" that $5.

Why? Are you under the impression that they are used frequently in crimes? Because they certainly are not.

something that is ONLY good for killing people. And people in large numbers.

Absolute bull shite.

Why should it be a "luxury?"

What does it matter if they have to reload. We wouldn't have guns in this scenario.

Secondly, this is clearly a Rex alter

While unfortunate, this is not a public problem that the government has to solve. It is (or more likely, can be) a problem that the people in that family have to deal with.

Shows what you know. A Special Forces officer could use just guns to create a bit of a resistance to all those weapons. There would be some serious casualties on both sides.

I love how the "guns are bad" nuts fail to realize that gun related deaths are less than 1% of the deaths in america. Then you take just the gun related homocides and the percentage is even smaller.

My cousin was murdered with a hand gun and it wasn't the gun that killed him. It was the psycho who pulled the trigger that killed him. Inanimate objects aren't the problem, it's the people who use the objects for evil that are the problem.

When the anchor was discussing assault weapons and how he supported people owning guns, just not assault and then said something to the extent of "all of the murders from assault weapons"..... I wish the gun advocate would have checked him and told him how many deaths those weapons actually account for.

You know damn well why a criminal would never shoot up at a gun show.

I saw this on TV where a robber meant to rob a jewelry store, but he accidentally walked into a gun store and tried robbing them. He was shot down in a matter of seconds. No criminal would ever willingly rob a gun store.

I always see this argument, it's how I know whether someone is probably imbecile an likely incapable of evaluating things at any depth beyond the most superficial level.

Your assumption has one glaring fault. The "government" by which I assume you mean the military is comprised of citizens. Presumably people who value freedom as much or more (considering they risk their lives for it) as anyone else.

Why do you assume these citizens would launch an attack against their own friends family and countrymen. How likely is it that 100 percent of the military would join forces with the tyrannical government.

It seems the last time a large swath of the country found the ruling government undesirable, that much of the military took sides with the resistance.

Internal conflict would not occur this way. If it was this serious then the military itself would be divided.

Select fire weapons are not banned. Your statement is part incorrect and part opinion.
quote:

Educated estimates show that around 1000 death last year were criminals who were shot in self defense. Compare this to the 32k+ deaths that were a result of gun related suicides/homicides last year.

This completely ignores defensive gun uses where the good guy chooses not to shoot/kill. The good guys don't necessarily want to kill people, therefore this number is actually very high in relation to the number of gun deaths. Look it up, it's estimated at ~1 million or more defensive gun uses per year.

We need new solutions to gun control. No denying it.
100% agree
