So.. two years ago the Stars rolled out a Neal-Richards-Morrow line. Now, 2/3 of that line is in Pittsburgh (and likely centered by Malkin), and Richards is in New York. They have turned that line into Goligoski, and AHL prospect who has been a regular healthy scratch according to the Hockey News, and the money to rent Jaomir Jagr. Oh, and they haven't made the playoffs in half a decade.

That is a total failure of asset management. Though this was probably the best movement of the three.

Huge win for the Caps. So, in this key 7-game stretch, the Caps are now three games in and have the maximum six points. Still likely need about 6 points in the next 4 games, 5 at minimum.

Dupuis just got blasted square in the number in the back and face into the boards, down and not moving.

No penalty called, 5 minute major my god officials.

fricking ridiculous NHL.

Longest winning streak in the NHL this year.

Add Morrow, Malkin and Letang back any game now, leggo.

Pens have allowed 2 or fewer goals in last 8 games, what a complete overhaul defensively.

They are 7-2-1 in their last 10. If that's fading, we should all be fading.

I was mostly joking with the Dewbster, but 2 in a row to the wings is funny regardless.

Then the Stars took the right trade. Looking at his numbers, Koko tore up the WHA, but he got schooled in the KHL this year. Over 20 games and only 2 goals? Not what you want to see from a center scoring prospect on the wider rinks of Europe. Not impressed by his profile at all. Morrow has serious issues, but he at least has the potential to be a top 4 defenseman.

Oh, and I'm not ignoring you CanFan. Forgot to answer you last night. Is Phaneuf overpaid? Sure. So is pretty much every player who signed a free agent contract in their prime. The reason you can afford him is because you are underpaying other assets who do not yet have leverage to get those deals. But Phaneuf largely lives up to his deal, though Toronto fans are conditioned to never be happy with anything. The Leafs are having their best season in some time (yes, I know they're on a losing streak, but I'm pretty confident they will make the playoffs), so maybe the Leafs should just enjoy it and worry about firing all over their players and starting from scratch come the offseason.

Because, man. The Eastern Conference pretty much flat out sucks this year (aside from Pitt and Boston). This is a good year to have a mediocre team that just scratches its way into the postseason lottery.

Penguins going all-in. Traded two 2nd rounders for Douglas Murray. Murray is a slow, plodding d-man who is pretty much worthless in the offensive zone, but he's a big, mean guy who will knock the crap out of you. That seems like a move made specifically for a potential series with the Bruins.

Pens wanted a big physical defensive defenseman and they got him. Similar to Orpik.

Bring on the playoffs although the Pens aren't done making moves.

7 million a year for Semin

Semin's goals scored by year:

40
28
21
8 (so far, on pace for 22 in an 82 game season)

That's a bad trend. He's 29 and I'm sure he's going to get better! I'm sure he'll be awesome when he's 34!

James Neal is a best case scenario for the Canes. There's another guy this year with 8 goals, just like Semin. He's 30, which is one year older than Semin. He's scored 40 goals once, just like Semin, and 30 goals twice, just like Semin. He makes $1 million a year.

Alexander Semin makes $6 million more than Brad Boyes.
