kayak or inflatable pontoon?

Looking for something easy to fish with. Been reading alot on here about the yaks, but just looked up the Creek Company inflatables, and they seem to offer a little more, plus much higher off the water for easier fishing. It seems these water crafts are for more typical river/stream/brook fishing, and mountain lakes. I will be fishing lakes with a lot of stumps, and thought/think they would be easier to maneuver, than a yak. Plus alot more room for gear. Tell me almighty OB, what should I do?

I got an inflatable pontoon for HS graduation. The first time I used it I had a catfish drag me around for 5 minutes. The second time I used it, a 5lb bass drug me around for 5 minutes. It sat up in my shed for 10 years after that and I CL traded it to some guy for an obnoxiously huge toolbox that is holding an above ground pool someone gave me at a party. No pump. FML

Got mine at Costco for less than $400 a few years ago. I have really enjoyed it.

ETA: For the purposes of the original post, though, I'd probably go with the pontoon for the extra space and elevation.

That's what I'm looking at, the pontoon inflatable. Roger, how durable are the pontoons. I'll be using it for both fishing/hunting in some brush/stumps and the like. I see where they have PVC bottoms for some of the higher dollar ones. And the material, (pontoons), are they susceptible to dry rotting and the like. Will probably just keep it inflated and just throw it in the back of my truck. TIA. Sorry for the time delay.

I had my pontoon for 3 years. Get an electric pump. Well worth it I'm my mind.
I even took multiple trips on the bogue chitto. Got hung up on a bunch of down trees both trips and never punctured it.
Bad when I get a quality fish on. It's so light you have no leverage. I put a trolling motor on it and I can ride around all day but it doesn't track well. They are designed to float with the current. Forget paddling across a duck pond on it.

Thanks. Will definitely have a troll. motor on it. Some days only have a few hours to fish and the lake I fish I will just launch it a fish the banks until dark, don't really want to f with launching my boat. I like how high it rides compared to a yak. Does your seat swivel?

Get an extention for your seat so you can sit higher. I think mine is 36 inches. And it swivels. Reinforce the seat bracket with bigger wing nuts. I bent over to grab a redfish in the marsh off la 1. Wing nuts broke I fell in 16 inches of water. Battery for trolling motor sunk and I had to pad in against the wind. Lost my crocs in the mud. Terrible experience other than 30 reds in a little under 2 hours
