3rd Round Pick Radar

assuming no 2nd rder back who are you looking at for #75?
here's my early list-
Kawann Short DT Purdue- an optimistic hope for here but it could happen
William Gholston DE Michigan State
Cornellius Carradine DE Fla St- potential could easily push him higher but still possible from what we know right now
If Harper doesn't restructure he could be cut. If that happens there's a good crop of safeties that would be in the #75 vicinity-
Phillip Thomas Fresno St
Robert Lester Alabama
Bacarri Rambo Geogia
Since we passed on Marcus Trufant and took Fried Chicken Sullivan then maybe his brother, Desmond Trufant from Washington, could be a solid 3rd Rder at CB
Chase Thomas OLB Stanford, again maybe too optimistic but LBs generally get devalued. He would be a perfect SLB and move Hawthorne to his more familiar SLB.

We rarely draft players FROM big schools like you listed so its really kind of pointless to try and project. Look over your D2 rosters brother

Who are we drafting from Canada?
Posted on 1/15/13 at 2:28 pm to blueslover
I would expect Gholston to go in the 2nd.

I think the 3rd rounder is a lock for a defensive back wether it be S or CB.

If we get our 2nd I see us drafting Dline for first 2 picks. I can see us drafting our only offensive player being a tight end in 3rd round though. Just not sure who it would be.

I really wish we could afford to take non-defensive players earlier but given that it doesn't look like we'll get our 2nd back, we pretty much have to go defensive in the 1st and 3rd. Otherwise, a guy I'd like in the 3rd (he may be there in the 4th) is Ryan Otten..TE out of San Jose State.
6'6
245
4.7 40 (estimated)
47 catches 742 yards (15.8 per catch) 4TD.
He can line up and get down field but he's also an effective blocker. I've seen him projected anywhere from 2nd to 4th round so I'd expect he'll be to early for us. He was just a guy that I've seen play and think would be effective in our offense (maybe a Gronk/Hernandez) situation. We could use another big body in our receiving corp.

He USCes other DE? Dude is pretty beastly. Wouldn't mind taking him in the 3rd or 4th if that's about where he'd go and we don't go DE in the earlier rounds
Posted on 1/15/13 at 8:28 pm to blueslover
I think short from purdue would be a steal in the 3rd
Posted on 1/15/13 at 8:37 pm to blueslover
I actually think if he's still around, TJ McDonald from USC could make a lot of sense here. A lot of potential and just played on a poor SC Defense this season. Getting him in the 3rd would be an absolute steal and we know our FO loves them SC boys.
