| Any of you here use a Graphics Tablet? (Posted on 1/13/13 at 4:36 pm)
I have been looking at one for a while and I really like the Wacom Cintiq and know it is the supposed to be the best but I am not sure I want to spend that much for one. Any first hand experiences with specific tablets? Just looking for some trusted reviews before I purchase one.

i use tablets of all kinds and the Cintiq is def the best I have the 12 in one so I can travel with it, if you do a lot of graphic work they are good.

I like the idea of the built in screen drawing for the Cintiq. I had a tablet a while back and it was a PoS but drawing on it while looking up at the screen made me feel uncoordinated as hell.

I have the cheap one without the screen, I love it. I'm not sure I would drop 2000 on one though.

You can find a used 12" Cintiq for $500-$600. Still not sure I want to drop that on one though. I just need it for some animation stuff I am fooling around with. I am sure I would use it for general stuff but my motivation is to speed up the process of drawing and animating.

In my experiences, maybe because I have a less expensive model, but I wouldn't recommend figure drawing with it. It would be better to draw on paper and scan it in. It is more accurate than a mouse, but not as good as hand to paper. It works well for "painting" because you don't need 100% accurate strokes. Again, the one you're looking it would probably be better than my $100 one.

Yea I hand draw and scan it now but painting everything in is actually the process I would like to speed up. shite takes forever the way I am doing it now.

hand drawing and scanning is still the way to go, it takes time to learn the Cintiq some people hate it, I use it for digital painting, but rarely use it for any animation and i can pencil sketch way better than freestyle on the Cintiq for a lot of designers I know buy it because it is the tool to have etc and they rarely use it, if you are just messing around it is not worth it. If you plan to use it everyday for years then go for it , i love mine I paid 899 for a new 12in.
