Specifically Rouladen, I want to make some tonight but, I am not sure on which cut of beef would be best. Thin sirloin maybe? Does anyone have any experience with German foods or recipes?

No. Brits, Jews and Germans have no business cooking food.

I've had it several times but never made it. I believe it's flank steak cut thin. Has bacon and pickles in it! German mustard and cooked down in like a beef broth. Braised probably.

My mother made beef stroganoff (Russian) and served over spaetzle (German) but I'm not sure why.

I'm sure you will get better responses because a few posters probably cooked for the Kaiser or their grandparents were in the Third Reich .

Brits yes, Germans and Jews have given the world some pretty good eats. Have you ever heard of a British deli?

Which may be the best contribution to mankind, ever. So for that, I am thankful, and appreciative.

They gave us Martin Luther as well.

Germans did contribute to beer. Beer is not a German invention. Far from it.

Maybe, I am no beer historian, however they did make it pretty damn good.

Beer is one of the world's oldest beverages. It's at least as old, if not older, than wine

Yeah, let's not get all nitpicky about who invented what.

Germans may not have invented the wheel, but they put four of them on a Mercedes, which made the wheel a whole hell of alot cooler.

Same with beer.

Speaking of Germany, I haven't had a decent schnitzel since I last visited Munich.

True story. Back in 1977 I made a trip to Northwestern Univ. Ill. It was Thanksgiving night and the only place open was a Greek Restaurant named "The Chandalier" in Skokie.

I'm sure you remember that Skokie was a Jewish suburb of Chicago where the KKK did a parade of sorts a few years before.

So, I'm sitting with my 4 associates and the meal was great. Turkey, corn bread dressing, etc. The service was great. The prices were amazingly low.

Next to us was a table of Jewish folks. 8 of them including children. They complained to the young Greek waitress about everything. She was next to tears. The youngest child held up his plate and said "Look dad, I ate everything. I didn't waste a single penny."

My party heard it and said "wow, way to enforce a stereotype."

Then, I saw the mom take a pecan off the top of her desert cake and place it in her glass of coke. She demanded that the waitress come over and see "There is a pecan in my coke...I don't want to get charged for my meal."

The young girl apologized and it was taken off their bill. I sincerely regret that I did not step in. The girl was crying and I should have said "I saw what happened. It's not your fault."

After that experience I always thought that the reason there are no good Jewish Restaurants is because the tips won't be so good.

I think ISWYDT. It might just be my perverted sense of humour though.

The Germans make some good sausages, hams and other deli meats. You know, things to mix with beer drinking....

Nope. True story. In fact, I just looked up to see if that place still exists.
It does not.
