Jeremy Hill was obviously our best freshman to see the field last year. Of the incoming crop, who do you think will have the greatest impact? My vote goes to DeSean Smith. I think he will be a top red zone target because of his size and athleticism.

On the defensive side of the ball, I think Tre'Davious White will play a ton and might even start. Which other freshmen will make an impact this year?

Melvin Jones will be awesome if he stays at backer. He's got ridiculous speed and size. He looks like he could walk on and start right now, as a LSU fan I'm really excited that he committed.

Got to also like Avery and dural's chances to have a nice impact.

Outside of that I like hunter, white, and Herron.

Tre'Davious White by far and away. If he's not a starting CB next season then something is wrong with the coaches. He will be great day 1.

A lot actually. On offense you'll have Smith, Leslie, Johnson, Diarse, Fanaika, Pocic, Boutte, and possibly Brazil. On defense you'll see Herron, Beckwith, possibly Neal and Coututure, possibly Jones, and definitely White (also Willis if he signs).

This is a beast of a class.

"Breakout freshman" is usually dictated by need more than talent. I think Gilmore will break the 2-deep at DT. Pocic is one injury away from being an emergency starter at RT. Hawkins (a redshirt) may be the starting LT. The winner of the Dwayne Thomas / Shaq White battle for #3 CB.

Down the road... Rashard Robinson may be the best player in this class though.

My dream is that we sign Willis, and he and White end up at the #3 and 4 corners by midseason, with Willis starting next to Mills by year's end.

With Robinson and White in this class, I think that pushes Willis to FS if he commits.

You think we've got a chance at snagging him?

I doubt he beats out Collins, but if he does we'll have three quality corners for sure.

Possible. Of course, I personally think Robinson redshirts because of his lack of size at the moment. He is still filling out his frame.

So the shuffle you speak of may not happen until Spring practice 2014.

I mostly agree. I think they'll at least try to redshirt him.
