-They recruit with the best of them, yet are considered average game day X and O coaches.
-They put a ton of players in their respective pro leagues, but don't win as many championships as they should.

Difference being Calipari is far and away the best recruiter (with UK) in the country and Les is probably top 5.

ETA:

I will add that Les has the 2nd best graduation rate in the SEC behind Vandy (at least before this mass exodus). Also I will add that I am perfectly fine with this model.

Calipari teaches defense as well as anyone, most of his teams have been elite defensively...he gets his superstar one and done guys to buy into playing hard on defense, that's the only good thing I'll say about Calipari.

But this is a dumb thread

Link?

Why is his success attributed to "lesticles" and being the mad hatter? He is zany etc.

All you hear about saban is....he is a tactician, perfectionist, great x and o's coach...etc....not many people make jokes about his coaching style.

Does it really matter what anyone thinks as long as you keep winning? It's like people would be ok with losing a ton but happy because liberal media nerds think you have a good coach.

Calipari actually gets the most out of his players and runs his offense based on his players strengths.

Yes. I think it hurts when people in the media portray Les as a clown while fawning over how great some other coaches are in regards to knowing the game. That has to influence some recruits and parents.

no its not. if CLM was winning at a 65-70% clip he would be gone.

I'd compare him to Bobby Cox. A winner, extremely succesful, but frustrating.

So you think CLM is more respected than Calipari when it comes to coaching ability?

Les's coaching ability is sooo respected that no one wants him to have influence on the offense or defense
