Circumstances were WAY different. LSU's victory over Bama/Saban was basically negated, LSU's SEC championship was tarnished, and LSU's national championship performance in NOLA should have been better.
I could have dealt with a loss if the game was close because LSU was so talented, but the offensive game plan was horrible. The game would have been closer if they just tried to run out the clock from the first snap. It wasn't the talent gap that Notre Dame had that lost the game, it was offensive scheme.
It broke my will as a rabid fan, and now I have become complacent. It is pretty depressing when you need a shot in the arm to enjoy college football again.
I am beyond butthurt about that game!
Otherwise

Actually I'm pissed about 12/31. Another loss on the growing list of fiascos.

As much as losing that game sucked, people will finally stop talking about it....
I'm just glad it was such an awesome season and I was there for most of it. Despite losing, the atmosphere at that BCSCG was more exciting for me than the 2007 title.

We play Alabama every year.
Which part of that do you people not understand?

I doubt ND is to upset, hell they had no business being there in the first place, AND played to their potential. LSU on the other hand didn't show up in NC game, had no scheme or plan, didn't have the will to execute it If they did. In Death Valley they had Bama by the throat and let off, Didn't play 60 minutes of football only 58, and lost.

GTFO. Comparing LSU to ND????
Wow.
Wow.

people are more butthurt about the mulligan not losing to bama. If we would have only played bama once and lost I think everyone would feel like ND. Better team won. Its the damn MULLIGAN!!!!!!! and the fact LSU sucked on 1/9

Meanwhile our most hated rival has won 3 of the last 4.

LSU fans still butthurt from a year ago....
And you're still obsessing over something you have no control over -- how other fans react to a disappointing loss. All LSU fans were butthurt over 1/9, some criticized LSU coaches and some, like you, criticized other LSU fans. You need to get over own your butthurt just as much as anyone else.

Serious question. Is the fan base still buthurt if we lost to Oklahoma State in exactly the same way we lost to Alabama?

Big difference. Notre Dame didn't have the talent to play with them. They squeeked by crappy teams throughout the year. Their "big" wins were over a weak OU team and bad USC team. The only impressive victory was beating Stanford on a questionable call in OT.
LSU stood toe to toe with Bama in the regular season in 2011 and won. Miles completely shite the bed in the rematch and that is why fans are still bothered by it.

The original post is ill-founded for several reasons:
(1) I live in the midwest amongst many Notre Dame fans. They are indeed stung by the loss and are not prone to forget it soon. The headline of the Chicago Sun-Times piece was "Stink Bomb: Stench of Loss Will Linger in South Bend."
(2) Will the same Alabama team march into Notre Dame stadium next season, beat the Irish on a last second touchdown, and deny them a second opportunity at a title? No? In other words, LSU fans might justifiably be more concerned about Alabama than Notre Dame fans because we play them every f*cking year;
(3) Notre Dame was outmatched in terms of talent on the field. The stumbled and bumbled their way into that game. Christ, Pitt should have beaten them. That certainly wasn't the case with the LSU team that coursed into the Super Dome on 1/9. We had decimated the SEC, beaten the Pac 10 and Big East champions, and bested Alabama in Tuscaloosa. We weren't 21 points less talented than the Tide. We just self-destructed as a result of pitiful coaching. Much more aggravating than simply being beaten by superior talent.
(4) Dumb.

Then, the moment we lost to Clemson, I snapped. I don't know what it is. It's like it has built up for so long. Now, I am just so freaking angry about it.

Moral victory. Fine with winning 10 games. Offense is fine no worries. What a great year this was.

LSU's schedule is a detriment to winning any title.

Losing 21-0 wasn't what bothered me. Never attempting to change things by trying Lee is what bothered me. It was as if we had given up at half. At least ND played competetively after half time.
