I also stated, started to fall apart, just like offesne started to come together. Neither went full circle.

The offense started to "come together" at about the time we started playing the shittiest defenses in the SEC.

The young secondary did get torched pretty badly in some of those games, but outside of Ole Miss they didn't really give up a lot of points. That's just going to happen sometimes when you play pass heavy spread teams, especially when you're a team with an inexperienced secondary that is built to stop power running teams.

It's going to be harder to have a lights out defense as we start to see more variation in play style amongst SEC teams. It'll be too hard to adjust from one week to the next. Which is why the offense better pick it up, and quickly.

Yea you are right. Miles has coached them up and has had a stellar offensive plan. It is the damn players fault we have the 86th best offense in the country.

Boy we are lucky we have Les without his coaching we might have slipped to 100 or worse.

After that embarrassing loss in the NCG you would have thought Les was gonna change his offensive philosophy, he didn't. Why would he change anything today? Les Miles ego is in the way of him becoming a great coach. I think Miles luck and great defenses has run its course.

I wouldnt call bamas defense the worst in the sec.

I just think there were problems on both sides of the ball that we didnt have last year. Hence not winning the west and the sec.

While the d didnt give up points, the secondary got torched in the state, ole miss, arkansas, and clemson game. You wouldnt expect that with the supposed best talent in the country.

We need to recruit a quarterback that fits our offense instead of bringing in the big name guys. Alabama brings in qbs that fat their offense and they grow them up in the system. Ben Roethlisberger won his 1st Superbowl bc he managed the game well, made an occasional big play, and had a great defense. We won our champioships w/ qbs that managed our offense. While Mett is a talent, LSU will never conform to an offense that would utilize his talents. We run and play D. Find a guy that can see a cornerback coming, find a guy that can make a play out of nothing b/c of pure instict. We don't need a star, we need a guy that won't lose the game and a guy that makes a big play from time to time.

JJ wasn't the problem. He (like Lee) was a limited talent that was put in bad situations.

LSU has been through 5-6 QB's on the roster since RP left and none have "worked out."

There is this strange randomness about player usage and play selection. Hard to blame players for being asked to do things beyond their development.

I agree. I think he had talent that unfortunately was never utilized. An ongoing problem.

Mettenberger is as legit of a QB prospect as you can get. He has all the tools to be an excellent pro-style QB. Our offense has no identity. Our development of OLine, QB, and WR is horrendous.

The offense put up a ton of yards, but only 17 points. Being unable to get the ball into the end zone is a chronic offensive problem and it definitely reared it's head again. We started to score a lot more around around the time we started playing Arkansas, and Moo State, and Ole Miss. Not a coincidence.

Anyway, the defense certainly had problems defending the pass at the end of the year, but that isn't a chronic problem. We haven't had abysmal pass defense for 5 straight years. I expect it to be corrected because our defensive problems generally get corrected quickly. It it's a problem again next year, then I will worry.

But the offense has been average-to-bad for 5 years straight. Yes, even last year was merely average offensive production, it was just coupled with absolutely lights out defense and special teams play. That is a chronic problem that should have been addressed a few times over, and just hasn't been.

I'm willing to overlook a few bad defensive games at the end of the year, but not 5 years of mostly really poor offensive performance.

It's Miles job to field players who can make plays...

Lee did fine until the concussion/break up. You guys have terrible/selective memories.

re: What do the Miles supporters believe it will take to actually develop a legit QB

Couple things could really open up the offense:

1. Bama doesn't need a stinking fullback to run the ball. Why do we? The FB takes up a useful skilled position - rb/wr/te - that could be used to expand the x and o possibilities against defenses.

2. In light of #1 I don't understand why they haven't thought of using an old school 2 RB formation - with split backs instead of the power I. So many run/pass options with a combination of Hill/Ware or Ford/Hill or Hilliard/Hill etc. This could have been done with our backs over the last 5 years. Don't have to give up the FB permanently, but not use one on nearly every friggin down.

Yes he was. JJ... I can't even find the words. I want to call him the worst player in our history but that is obviously not true. Maybe close.

He's definitely got to be in consideration for one of the worst multi-year starters of all time. And he has the crown for Thug POS king.

You have three others on the roster besides Mett right now who aren't starting.
