Then, we'd cave. I'm starting to think the bill we just passed was lip service to the citizens here.

Unfortunately, I think that's what 95% of what government does is. It's a big ole production to fool the voters/tax payers......does anyone actually believe that the state refusing to play along with obamacare will last much longer?
Sorry.......political board rant.

Seems like as good a response as we could hope for from a Democrat.
She only specifically mentions mental health and strict compliance with NICS, which puts her in line with the NRA if I'm not mistaken.
The statement reads to me like someone who wants to appear concerned and engaged but won't actually do anything to worsen her NRA rating.

You are talking about the state constitutional amendment that passed this past November. That only applies to state law. It has zero to do with the feds.

In the U.S. constitution there is something called the Supremacy Clause. It states that federal law is the law of the land, thereby anything in the states laws or constitution contrary notwithstanding.

But no, that amendment wasn't purely lip service. It will affect the state laws. It just nothing to affect federal law.

I think it's important that this thread stays here.

The OB is filled with responsible gun owners and they should be up to date with what is happening in regards to gun laws.

If this gets put on the political board, it'll just water down with BS like the rest of em...

So, by all means, rant away!

IF the AG chooses to enforce these laws huh? I'm not an expert, but there are several states that have passed legislation that decriminalizes the use of pot. What is the difference, except for the 2nd amendment?

Someone needs to remind her that she works for the people of the State of Louisiana and that the people should be able to choose whether she is for or against it.

This came up a lot, right when the law was passed. There is no difference. The feds can bust anyone they want in the US for using or selling pot, just a matter of how much man power they choose to throw at the issue.

The LA law was and still is just a middle finger to the feds passed to help LA politicians look tough to the voters.

I hear ya TDT, the: "except for the 2nd amendment" was thrown in there for the hell of it.

Virtually no difference. The federal law is still the bottom line as stated by the supremacy clause.

The only difference is a practical one because of the way the products are distributed and manufactured. Its a hell of a lot easier to shut down a bunch of manufacturing plants than it is to shut down every stoner growing weed in his parents basement.
