"I remember worrying about me playing in my hometown and showing up and damn, I don't think I'm going to show up," he said. "I hope I show up. I hope I have a game like I did against Georgia or Auburn. And it really took me out of my preparation for the game. I didn't give up a touchdown but I gave up four or five passes. Passes when I knew they were going to run that route. I mean, I knew they were going to run that route. But I didn't prepare myself. I was worried about everything outside the game."

If he had to do it over, Mathieu said, "I would have shut my phone off. I would have stayed in my hotel room."

It seems to me that TM7 is telling us that some players were partying before the NCG. In the interview he refers to smoking weed as abusing himself....then he says he abused himself before the BCS game.....however, he says something that indicates he wasn't alone.....someone or multiple someones calls his phone in the hotel room. He says he wishes he didn't answer it and would've stayed in his room. Clearly these were other players because he again talks about these calls later in the interview that he still gets and says the only thing they have in common is football.

Sounds like our Jan 9 loss may have partially due to a hungover and high team.

Sounds like our Jan 9 loss still due to shitty offense.

Doesn't matter, really. It's over. The root of the problem will never fully be resolved, IMO. We got our arse handed to us, and we'll have to live with that. Life goes on.

Wasn't talking about other players

"When they call my phone, 'Nah, I'm with my girlfriend,' " Mathieu said. " 'I'm about to go work out. I've got something to do.' I'm growing up now. It ain't that I'm lying to them. I'm saving myself. Because I've got an outlook on life I know what's behind that door. I know why you're calling my phone. We've only got a few things in common. And it's not football."

I didn't hear that.

No he didn't say that actually. I took it as he abused himself after because of the pain the loss caused.

Time to move on sir.

Your entire post would have fit "nicely" in the TM7 interview thread.

How in the fricking world did you get that from what he said?

Not once did he say "we", and he used "I", "I'm", "My", or "Myself" 19 times in the paragraph you quoted.

He and lots of teammates have been high every day since 6th grade. Quit making excuses, our offense and coach cost us the Jan 9 game.

TM7 and Ryan P would have done themselves all the good in the world if they would have gotten as far away from the loser high school buddies as possible.

Like I said earlier, is there a substance abuse problem on our team? No unsubstantiated claims. I believe there is.

Considering the fact that TM7 has all but let the rest of the world know he's an addict, it would be extremely naive to think he didn't party before the big game.

He needs to quit shouldering the loss though. That was a team-wide effort (including coaches).

Plain and simple answer? No.

You read that quote with your own personal bias.

OP: way to create something within your own mind. Nothing he says indicates that the people calling him were players.
