Rep. Peter King, a senior New York Republican, was even blunter. "This has been a betrayal of trust," he said. "We were told at every stage that [a vote] was definitely going on. It is inexcusable. It is wrong." New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a rising star in the Republican Party, held a news conference to attack Boehner. "It was disgusting to watch," he said. "One set of Republicans was trying to prove something to another set."
I hope Speaker Boehner does not have a heart attack over this. Talk about stress. He's a chain smoker and this can't be good for this health. Aside from his health it seems the GOP is not a team right now. They are more divided then I can ever remember. I know people hate Pelosi but she runs a tight ship and gets her members to fall in line. Our country is divided and now the GOP is divided. Can Boehner survive?

That's because all democrats are liberals but not very many republicans are conservative

Hate to burst your bubble, but there are conservative Democrats. Just like Democrats say there are no liberal Republicans. I know some of both. Rare breed and quiet, but they are out there. Most have become independents like me.

The Pork Filled and Expensive Non-Relief Sandy Relief Bill
quote:
The pork-barrel feast includes more than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC. An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms. Other big-ticket items in the bill include $207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center; $41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm’s path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; $4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida; $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and $1.1 million to repair national cemeteries. Budget watchdogs have dubbed the 94-page emergency-spending bill “Sandy Scam.” More: $58.8 million for forest restoration on private land. $197 million “to… protect coastal ecosystems and habitat impacted by Hurricane Sandy.” $10.78 billion for public transportation, most of which is allocated to future construction and improvements, not disaster relief. $17 billion for wasteful Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), a program that has become notorious for its use as a backdoor earmark program.

Why do you always seek to bash one particular side? I thought you were an independent.

I agree, but you hear very little about the reason for lack of vote in the news and it wasn't in your OP. Did you miss it or didn't know the pork existed?

I am an independent, I've voted for Nixon Ford Reagan Bush Clinton Gore(Could never vote for the idiot W, worst GOP Pres of my lifetime Kerry Obama(Hillary) Obama The GOP is in a huge dry spell. George W. Bush would not win either of his close elections today. I'm not happy with the candidates we have to select from. I can't identify with either party. They both are out for their own benefit only. They don't ever put serving the public first. Besides, the far right element of the GOP is way out of line. I guess the GOP is gonna have to go farther Right for them to learn their lessons. It will be bloody but it looks like it has to happen. 40 to 55% of Americans are in the middle like me. We elect Presidents!

I wish Democrats would argue about issues with each other. They are like freaking cattle.

Stop passing all of the BILLS that are filled with spending that have nothing to do with the name on the BILL. Lots of kickbacks put in these BILLS.

Yeah that's what we need a speaker who can get her party members to vote on legislation in lockstep without reading it.
