I think the reason is Democrats are made up of a lot of single issue voters: health care, gay rights, etc. So they don't really care about continued wars, anti-terrorism laws, deficits, etc as long as their pet issue is addressed.

Also,
Democrats love the "Bush Tax Cuts" so much they made them permanent for 98% of income earners.
Democrats love the Patriot Act.
They have expanded the ME wars into Libya and are threatening to expand them into Syria and Iran currently.
One area that comes to mind is the Dems are muuuuuch more militant on environmental policy than the GOP.
Dems = GOP^2

I support the bill because it makes tax levels permanent for earnings below $400k. That's a pretty big deal. It also permanently fixes AMT. Yes I would have loved for the bill to be comprehensive and addresses spending.

They never really cared about any of that stuff. Democrats were not anti-war just anti-bush.

And it's amazing how many repubs think Obama is some far left socialist commie when a lot of his policies are just the same as previous administrations.

Bush's policies, at least the domestic ones were leftist.
No Child Left Behind, Prescription Drug Bill, Deficit Spending, TARP,etc...
Those weren't exactly conservative policies. Obama IS a leftist socialist commie pinko.
