I dropped my nova pump in the marsh this weekend. Water was pouring out of it. What parts of the gun do I need to clean?

The entire thing of course

ETA: Especially because it was salt water. I'd blast the whole thing out with fresh water and then dry and oil everything up well.

Dry it with a hair dryer and you're good to go.

Not serious.

What I meant to ask, is do I need to disassemble the trigger and whatever is involved with that?

I wouldn't disassemble the trigger group unless you're positive you can get it back together right.

I'd blast it off with fresh water (the old timers boil their trigger groups) and then blast it out with wd-40

I would take the entire gun apart, including trigger, bolt, firing pin, the works. Take the trigger mechanism, bolt and firing pin and but it in boiling water for a couple minutes. Then clean the rest of the gun with very hot water. It will take any fine sediment out of the gun.

Once you have it all cleaned and dryed put a LIGHT coat of oil on it and you are good to go. I have done this too many times to count with my SBEII in Venice over the years and it works like a champ.

You need to remove the butt stock also. I have seen some shotguns that were a rusty mess when you removed the stock.

If you do this, make sure and use a shitty pot. Otherwise, you will have an oily residue that is nasty as frick.
