Does anyone have any thoughts as to why LSU did not offer him? IMO, he was the best DT in that class with MJ and QT. Can never have enough DTs on the roster in my opinion.

Hindsight is 20/20 but we probably should have taken Hunter instead of MJ, largely because Hunter fits our system better.

I think he was actually height, and MJ was a beast with his strength...It was close, and may not have been the right move...time will tell.

No, I just think that they should have taken all three that year. Can never have too much depth at DT.

Well remember we also got the Freak that year so that made 3 and we had other needs like O-line and QB where we took a lot of guys. We still could have made room though.

Your right. The 2011 class had Freak, MJ, and QT (was a DT/DE combo).
LSU had only taken 1 DT (Ego) in 2010. And only had Logan (unproven at the time) and the often injured, undersized Downs left from the 2009 class.
IMO, you need to take at least 2 DTs every class. LSU took 0 DTs in the 2012/2008 classes.

 We wouldn't want to offend anybody. Give QT another year or two before you write him off. Not everyone contributes that early in their career, especially when they have to put on ~40 lbs.

It's a good idea to piss off the school that sends more recruits to you than any other school in the state.  Shows won't be at WM much longer. Once he's gone, the next coach might not love LSU as much.

So why take him over a kid that could walk in and contribute immediately? Hunter was better than QT in high school and is better than him in college.

Hunter would have redshirted at LSU and would have received just as much PT as QT did this season.

yall have to realize that hunter also walked into a great situation at TCU. .. he would probably have been stuck behind logan, freak, downs, and ego this year and rhere would have been nect to nothjng that he could do about it..
depth is a blessing, and yes, hindsight is 20/20

MJ was taken at the last second due to Jernnigan going to Florida State. Chuck would have been considered but he was already locked in at TCU.

Wow. MJ was committed before Jernigan broke his silent commitment to us. Hunter was not considered a take which sucks but you are off on both of your comments.
