Thinking of putting this on my new savage .308 bolt action. Wanted to get some pros and cons before pulling the trigger. I've never owned a Nikon before

I've got them on three of my guns, I prefer the 3x9x50 over the 3x9x40. Love the scopes.

I've had some good and bad experiences with them.

Good: My brother and I both had Prostaff's on our H&R 444's with no problems. I sold my 444, but his is still going strong.

Bad: My uncle had one on his 35 Whelen, and the cross hairs started turning inside the scope. He sent it back, and they sent him a new one. No problems with customer service.

Yea I was looking at the 3-9x50. Thanks for the advice guys. Think I'm pulling the trigger on one. You just can't beat these prices

I've always hunted with leupold but I've heard there's not much difference between the two. Might as well save $100 by going with Nikon.

For that price the leupold rifleman is a better option.

Gathers light better and doesn't have the "looking through a pipe" effect that you get from nikkon.

I have Nikons on my rifles. I partial to them. Not knocking the Leupold, I have always had Nikon.

I'm by no means calling the nikkon a bad scope. I have one and I like it. It's just not on the same level as the leupolds I have which were the same price roughly.
