There are so many great female singers but these are a few that I have been enjoying. Women hate me, but I still love them!

Always had a thing for Dolores O'Riordan:

The Cranberries "When You're Gone"

I always thought her music was as beautiful as she is:

Annie Lennox "Why"

Chrissie Hynde "I'll Stand By You"

I think that LCA turned me on to this lady who died too young:

Eva Cassidy "Fields of Gold"

Was introduced to this woman's music by a dear friend:

Susan Enan "Bring On The Wonder"

Judy Collins "Someday Soon"

Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli "Time To Say Goodbye"

There are so many more.

The Seaward, I am starting to listen to each now. I have always respected your knowledge of music.

Thanks. Same to you. Not sure if these will be your scene, but can't hurt to give them a try I guess.

Some favs I always end up going back to:

Regina Spektor "Samson"
St. Vincent w Andrew Bird "Black Rainbow"
Cat Power "I Found a Reason" (even though I'm not crazy about her newer stuff)

Cat Power "I Found a Reason"

Hands down, one of her best songs (even though a cover)

I liked them all. And I have to say that Ruth Radelet has a great voice and more than did justice to "Into the Black".

Belle, listening to yours now.

I saw you posted a link to one of Eva Cassidy's covers: Fields of Gold. She is one of the best female artists of all time, in my opinion. It's a shame she was taken so young.

She was from here in the D.C. area. What an absolutely beautiful voice. You are right, she is gone too soon.

Yea I was 7 or so when she died, but heard this cover a few years ago and then explored some of her other work.

All great stuff.

I've always got time for Dolores and Annie.

That Sarah Brightman/Andrea Bocelli tune is amazing.

I've been getting back into

Sade (Soldier of Love)

Also listening to Annalivia, a newish "American Roots Music/Bluegrass/Celtic" type band.

I always enjoyed Sade.

I hadn't heard Annalivia before. She has a certain Joni Mitchell quality. I enjoyed her music.

Check out this song by Taylor Swift. Yes, that Taylor Swift. Who the hell knew she had such an excellent voice...

Song starts at 1:05

That's good and I like the Civil Wars.

A couple of months ago I saw "A Night With Janis Joplin" at The Arena Stage in D.C. The woman who played JJ did a fantastic job. And JJ could sing the blues:

Janis Joplin "Cry Baby"

Dang I'm listening right now and she's got quite the voice. Never really listened to Joplin much before.

I wonder how her voice would have aged, given how she sang with such an empowering, almost scratchy tone.
