One of my buddies writes articles for SI.com. He is hoping it becomes full time. Don't know how he earned that gig. But cool nonetheless, So that may be another option for some peeps. I wasn't aware that they have part time writers.
ETA: I've also met Ives, he seems to be a pretty cool guy. He'd be ok to work for I think. I know a lot of people came up asking on how to get into the business. He answered everyone's questions thoroughly and wasn't rude about it or anything. Good luck, if anyone decides to pursue this.
